should I target typo keywords?

Recently, I got some information about targeting the typo keywords, and I have some questions about this. Because when you type in Google with a typo, Google will automatically correct your typo, is it still worth to target on these typo keywords? thanks

    Hi Johnny,

While many would say it's a waste of time to target the typos, I've found that it has been worth my while doing so many times over.

There are some niches that are perfect for targeting typos and many of them are good for adsense income.

    Cheers.

I am currently targeting some. Although I do check manually prior to purchasing the domain. In some instances Google will replace all the search results with the corrected spelling (I don't target those), in others it only replaces a few searches with correct spelling making the misspelled word a target.

I'm ashamed to say it but every once in a while I deliberately misspell a keyword and yes, it does work.

Typo words work. Yes, target them and prove them either wrong or right.

Doesn't cost you anymore to add the keywords to your list. You'll find out soon enough if they ever get any impressions.

Just be careful what typo generators spit out. Some of the misspellings from one word are actually another common word. If those get mixed in you are going to be getting clicks from people that weren't after your market at all.

Edit: I just realized you weren't referring to keywords for an ad campaign. You mean keywords on your website.

I'm dealing with that too. I'm working in a niche where about half the searches are actually a typo. My plan is just to sprinkle in some of the typos on my site and hope that's enough. I might even add a category and post about the difference between the two and which one is correct. Not sure if that will be enough SEO for each, or whether I'm just diluting both.

There was a WSO some time ago which set out how best to do this. It received very favourable comments from quite a wide audience so I presume that it works well. Although I bought the WSO I did not implement the techniques, but do reconsider the matter from time to time.

I would be careful about targetting typos in trademarks though.

    Thanks all,

I read this article and the main reasons not targeting misspell words are:

    1. Google will correct the search results, using "Did you mean..." and most people will click the correction and a search results, then Google will display the correct search results.

    2. If I'm targeting typos on my websites, readers might find it's hard to read.

So in this article he suggested to place typo in some meta tag or ALT...etc

Overall, I think a lot of people have success on this, so, I'll give it a try, thanks all

I will not target typos unless Google tells me that there are a very large number using that typo as a search term.

google has never displayed a site with typo keyword. If i make a mistake, it automatically shows the site with right keyword. So i don't think it's a good idea unless a lot of sites are displaying that particular keyword.

Yeah typos can be extremely lucrative especially in highly competitive niches with a lot of competition.

I personally do not do it on my blog because it looks like your illiterite see i spelled illiterate wrong lol.

But for classifieds, and articles take advantage of it when you can. I have noticed some good traffic from typos on past ads! Just be smart about it!

You should just check to see how often the typo gets searched. Some words get spelled wrong all the time. Like no one on earth spells Galifianakis right. That's the fat dude with the beard from the Hangover.

I only spelled it right because I was looking him up on IMDB earlier. But I think you get the idea. Just see how often people make the mistake. Google takes time to autocorrect. I search wrong all the time.
