Video software, any suggestions?

I have been playing around with Icansoft software this morning and I can't get want I really need out of it.
I want to make some simple 90 second text on a background type videos. I would like to add some music too.

I will be honest, I have used services off here before and I am happy with them, Just thought it would be fun to have a go myself.

It would be nice to break up my day with another task. At the moment all I seem to do is write. I don't mind paying a little cash for the right software. Simplicity of use is a must.

Thanks for the reply. I might try the free trial on Camtasia. I have heard a little about that.

Free option - Camstudio, basically Camtasia with less options; might not have enough options to create slideshows though.
Paid Option - Camtasia, I use it for all my videos, great program

You can make a very basic presentation by using powerpoint. Then get the trial of camtasia, once its installed you will see that thier is new option in powerpoint that lets you do screen recordings.

Once it's recorded you can use camtasia to edit your video, add music etc.

p.s look up wavepad sound editor, its a great free program for editing music etc.

Yes, you can use PowerPoint to create the video content first, and then convert the PowerPoint to a video. In PowerPoint, you can add text, music, video, pictures and various animations.

Besides using Camtasia to generate a video for your presentation, you can also directly using a PowerPoint to video converter to do this. It's much cheaper and more convinient.

Are you working with a PC then? You can do quite a bit with power point. I've always used a Mac and imovie is great and I use VMware Fusion to run Windows 7 on my Mac simultaneously.

The perfect solution for your need above is Animoto, you can create those 50 second videos in as little as 5 minutes. The simplest and the easiest, also looks very professional.

You can get pro version licensed to use for business purposes for a quarterly rate of $97.

I have been using Sony Vegas for my Youtube videos.

It's easy to learn yet it has all the bells and whistles.

Edit: the above web course has something called Sony Vegas 101, so I assume it must be popular.

Here is a very simple - and free - method to make simple text-based videos if you are on a PC.
You need Windows Movie Maker (it is already on your computer); PowerPoint (comes with MS Office); Audacity (a free audio recording and editing software).

Write your text in Notepad: make a new line for every sentence that you want on a separate slide. Save it.

Open Powerpoint and import your text file as your outline. It will be a white, blank "design" but you can apply any template to it.

When done > File > Save as... and select to save it as .jpg (image) file. You will get as many images as many slides you had.

Open Windows Movie Maker (WMM) and import those pictures and place them on the storyline. You can add transition effects, you can define how long each of them is shown etc.

While watching your movie, record the audio with audacity. Add the audio file "below" your movie. Adjust the timeline of the pictures to fit with the content of the audio.

Save it (for internet). You can upload it it to youtube, viddler and many other places...
