Starting from scratch in IM

Hello.
My name is Nil Soriano, I'm from Spain, and I'm just 18.

A few weeks ago, I found the first IM website that I had ever seen google-ing around. Then, I became interested, but I didn't spend a cent on it, just because I don't have any available credit card or money in PayPal to buy those programs, so I just went to the freebies.
Obviously, since I had no experience, I failed in all of them.

This morning, when I found this forum, I decided to seek a bit of help.
So, if someone could help me out with IM marketing, assuming that I don't have any experience, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks.

      Welcome to the forum.

There are quite a few ways you can break into IM without having any money or credit-cards. People may suggest others, but I'll give one example (I don't say that it's necessarily the "best" one or even that it'll be the most suitable for you).

You can become a Clickbank affiliate (free).

You can get domain-names free from CO.CC - Free Domain name registration + Free DNS service.

You can get free hosting (good hosting, with no advertising on it) from Free Hosting, Paid Hosting, Reseller Services & VPS Servers : Byet Internet

You can install a WordPress content management system on it, available free from WordPress › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform

You can find one or two products at Clickbank that you want to promote, do some keyword research, write articles about them using good titles and keywords, post the articles on your site, get them indexed there, then submit those articles to article directories (no need to edit/amend/re-write them), with links pointing back to your site. And on your site you have links to your affiliate hoplink for the Clickbank products you're promoting, and you'll earn commissions (up to 75%) on anyone buying through your links. Clickbank pay you (initially) by sending a check: you need a bank account to get the money.

You can even build a list by having a free opt-in on your site. Write a "free report" and offer it to people who opt in and supply their email addresses. And then contact all those people by email, using an autoresponder (there are some free ones though they may not be the best?) and promote your affiliate products by email.

Keep adding articles to your little site. And gradually learn how to do "SEO" and get your site ranked well on Google.

You can learn more about all the details of exactly how to do all these things by reading threads here, looking around for online information and looking at tutorial videos on YouTube.

You're really trading money for time if you set things up this way - it's quite a bit of effort, and a big learning curve, but it is possible to start making money without spending a single penny.

There are many other ways - this is just one example.
I know this may seem a little overwhelming to you, but what Alexa has outlined is a great business model, and is quite similar to what I used when I started making money online.

While I agree Wordpress is better (no argument there) if you really want to make things simple, you can actually just set up some free blogspot blogs. That is what I did when I first started, and I did okay.

Take Alexa's advice seriously, this is a great way to start making money online.

        Okay, thank you all.
I'm already setting up a byethost account, guess I'll give it a .co.cc domain and I'll try to make a nice WordPress page with some reviews. I'll submit some articles in ezinearticles too. (Thanks GCostanza) Hope I can post some good results, if it succeeds
I don't have any problem with hard work, so I'm going to use the WordPress page, but thanks anyway mlord.
If someone here wants me to promote his/her product on my website, since you have helped me, you can send me a PM with the details on it (Only if this action is allowed in this forum, and I'm not very sure about it)
        And, obviously, thanks Alexa.

Alexa made some great points. Clickbank is how I started, as well.

Like you, I had absolutely zero capital. I started a blogger blog in a health related niche, posted about 150 articles on Ezinearticles, and then directed them all to the blog (which sold my Clickbank product).

It got me my first consistent sales, and since then it's opened my eyes to the potential that you can make online, even with zero capital to invest.

    Good luck to you.

You need to pick a niche that you are an expert on. Make good, quality content. Your first goal is to put out content that people like and want to read. Affiliate marketing should just be something that is there for them if they want it. Most of your time should be spent doing quality SEO first.

This thread's a few months old, but since it's come back to life today with a few new posts, I'll just mention by way of an update that "co.cc", referred to above, is not a good idea for a free (sub)domain, because that "co.cc" domain (and all its subdomains) has since been deindexed by Google.

There are still some inferior domains/subdomains available free, I think, but you can register a .info domain for $1 anyway, and that's a much better bet all round.

    Nil,

First of all welcome to the Warrior Forum and second of all CONGRATULATIONS. Not just on deciding to embark on the wonderful world of internet marketing but also for Spain winning their first ever FIFA World Cup. What an exciting game that was!!!

Anyway, with regards to IM, as others have mentioned, you are probably better off joining affiliate and/or referral programs. If you do not know what they are let me describe them as briefly as possible. An affiliate program is one that you join (mostly FREE) and you earn commissions for selling someone else's product, like for example Clickbank (I believe Alexa Smith recommended this one). A Referral Program is LIKE an affiliate program but you are not necessarily selling a product but rather a program or service. You sign up, promote the program and bring people to sign up under you. You normally get a URL or referral link with a member code. This ensures that whatever sales or referrals come in under this member code or URL, you will get the credit for it.

I suggest that you spend some time around the WF. Read threads that are very popular. More often than not, a lot of the Big guys and gals in here will be giving other beginners advice. This will help you gain some knowledge as to what is the best way for you to go. Do not ever take anything literally, you use advice and experiences as guidance to develop your own strategies. Not everyone can get success doing exactly the same thing.

Do not fall for any "Get rich quick scheme". You will only lose money, time and effort. IM entails a lot of hard work, but seeing results is very rewarding and even motivating.

Good luck and do not forget to ask questions whenever you need help.

Get educated, make a plan, and most importantly take action. There are a lot of great free resources to learn the basics. I would recommend Ed Dale's Challenge. Google it. Great place to get the basics.
    Good luck!

I agree with the poster above. It's imperative to get good training. You can go it alone but if a veteran recommends a good program then it's probably a good idea to take advantage. Get the basics of internet marketing down and then build to scale, rinse and repeat.

For someone starting out, being an affiliate is a good idea because it's a good way to test the market. If you achieve some success with it, then you can take the next step and create your own products. Also, don't forget to build a list in the process!

Definitely invest in quality training so you can learn the basics and make sure you focus on one thing when you first start off...Many newbies try to do too much in the beginning and get overwhelmed with information...Also find something to sell that you are passionate about as it will be much easier for you to build your business around something you enjoy...

Okay, here is my input on this. I've been lurking money making forums for the past year and a half or so, I attempted a few start up things, but I wasn't successful and I didn't do very much. Eventually I just kinda stopped paying attention to the whole scene and started a business of my own and was happy-ish. Fastforward a little bit, I was on my favorite internet community of all time in one of the money making sections when I saw a comment from a guy about a program that sounded really cool.

I was instantly hooked onto the idea and started talking with him, I got really passionate about it and listened to every word of his advice. He told me to get active in money making communities and run a blog. He said that it isn't called "Network Marketing" because you do it by yourself. You rely on other people to be successful, whether they are business partners/friends or clients, the only way to be successful is to network.

I know I'm new, but take this advice as a new guy to another new guy.

Find a program that you get passionate about, you will be writing a LOT about whatever program you chose, and it is very difficult to write 20 different 1000+ word articles about a program you think is stupid or wouldn't use yourself.
Begin networking, it is good that you are already on this forum, but don't just stop here. Find other forums, start up a Twitter, a myspace, a facebook, youtube, etc.
    Start making friends.
