Blog Comment=Article?

Part of my backlinking strategy to my own sites includes posting relevant comments on related blogs. Occasionally, I'll start writing a comment only to feel the creative juices kick in; before I know it, I'm deleting the comment before I hit "Publish" so that I can turn what I was going to say into a full-blown article on one of my own websites.

Anyone else?

    Sometimes I do both.

I've occasionally left short article length comments on other blogs, and then posted an expanded article on the topic on my own blog, and then link to the blog where I left the initial comment. Turns it into a win-win for myself and the other blogger. They get a worthwhile comment plus a link.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I've started doing that myself. I feel I'm adding value to the original post, and hopefully gaining new visitors as well.

        Hi.

Just wonering, is it easy to find blogs to coment on? Most of the blogs i run into seem to be about IM and the like.

        Jim.

Yes. Non-IM blogs are easy to find. I don't even read that many IM blogs anymore; some of the ones I did read are long gone and others--the big guys who are still around--became so repetitious or boring it became less compelling to visit them.

You can find a lot of blogs in Google or the various blog communities.

Yes - dead easy. With Google's new search feature, you can sort out only Discussions > Blogs and things like that. You just need to know what to search for in Google and what commands to use.

  • Yes, I do that quite often (post a shorter comment on the blog, then a longer post on my own blog). And I've seen it work in reverse (people posting a short comment on their blog, then the full post on their own blog).

I think it's a good strategy for coming up with blogging ideas, and, of course, I'd always backlink to the site where I got the idea from.

Another useful technique is to look for comments on your own blog and see which can be spun into their own post. That way, you're creating internal links within your blog, which is good for SEO, as well as rewarding your interesting commenters by providing a full post response to their comments.

I do the same thing guys. More than one blog post has its origin in a comment. I wrap up the comment and expound on my blog.

inter123, it takes some time to find good blogs. It depends on your niche though. If you are focused on network marketing feel free to stop by my blog (RBs Keys - In My Signature File), plenty of reputable and well-read bloggers comment on my site.

  • Will I too am like Dan. I will often leave the comment in a very brief and reduced explanation and quickly go and develop the idea into an article. I think that when people read intelligent and helpful posts on blogs, it motivates them to visit your own blog and see what you are all about.

That's certainly true from my perspective as a reader. I've found quite a few blogs that I now subscribe to simply because I enjoyed the comment they left on someone's site.
