Problem converting my e-book .doc to .pdf properly

Hey Guys:

I have an e-book that I want to start selling... in the Microsoft Word .doc format it lines up nicely: chapters start at the top of the proper page, everything fits nicely on the page

But when I try to convert it to Adobe Acrobat .pdf, all the pages get skewed, and it doesn't line up right...

Any advice on how to properly convert my .doc to .pdf without messing it all up?

Go to a site called Youconvertit.com. It converts to PDFs for free...for now.

Exactly what I would recommend BUT you need Word 2007 or higher.

VERY easy to do as it's already there inside WORD.

    Hello David,

Have you tried Open Office? Simply download the software to your machine, then open your Word doc in OO, then convert it into PDF.

I find that most of the time this will resolve the issues with formatting. If you still experience problems it might be because of the formatting itself.

    Hope this helps.

Which version of WORD do you use? I have Office 2007 - and it publishes it perfectly fine without any addons or plugins ...

I second office org, It is simple to use, and to create PDF's with clickable links.

    It is a free download
I'll second Matt here - Open Office is great for converting word processed documents into PDF files.

Very simple and without all of the added expense and fuss of PDF conversion software.

The other thing you can do if you ever have one that you just cant get looking right is pay some designer over at odesk about 5 bucks and they will make it look great and can often make the file size smaller for you too....

I use OpenOffice and it usually produces a good PDF, but not always. When it fails, I translate the file to HTML and edit it to fix the formatting. I think that knowing HTML is a useful skill even if you outsource programming.

Surely you can save your file as .pdf in MS word 2007.

But the converted files always dicard layouts and other things. Recommend you Nemo PDF Converter, it can help convert document files to PDF easily and vice versa, with text, layouts, tables and images preserved accurately. And it also supports batch and partial conversion.
