Firstly, I am still relatively new to WF so if this thread breaks any rules please forgive me

I have a blogspot site (I guess the name is not important) but imagine my surprise when I found the following stats today:

Alexa advises that I have 430,891 sites linked in!!!!

Cubestat tells me my site is worth $273,000,000.00 - yep, $273million. Another site tells me it is worth in excess of $2billion!!!!!!!

Listen, I am not a greedy person so you buy it for half price - cash only.

This site has not made a single penny so how these figures have come about is a mystery to me. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

#wow

That is the value of blogspot.com not your site which is just a page of that domain. Blogspot hosts 1000s of blogs.

big LOL! Your blog site is just one of the thousands of pages of blogspot.com. It is blogspot.com's worth and stats you're seeing.

What can give you a better idea of what the site can be worth is monitoring the traffic and using what is coming in to monetize.

You can add a widget for something like sitemeter on the side. When you log into sitemeter you can see the visits per day, pages visited, and specifically which keywords are pulling people to your site.

Use that specific data to find offers that your searchers may be truly interested in.

While you've never made a penny on the site, that doesn't have to mean it's not worth anything.

      • Jill, good suggestion, but one thing sitemeter does not show
is "paths through website" which is one of the most valuable stats
to have, next to Exit pages.

    Dude

As the others have mentioned ... you need to own the domain .. not a sub domain

    yourblog(dot)(owned-domain)(dot)com

Those who own blogspot ... own those stats ...
