Hey warriors, from quite long time I am thinking to get into cure acne naturally niche. As I am the perfect customer and I know much about it.

But I am paralyzed of thinking again and again whether I should target acne niche as a whole or Should I go for more targeted niche like back acne, or cystic acne.

The argument I give myself for going into acne niche in general is that people who are suffering from cystic acne or back acne are people who are suffering from acne in general,so may be they will search for acne and not cystic acne.

But on the other hand guru suggests that a newbie should always deal with a niche within a niche.

So I am curious what are your thoughts.

Acne in general would be pretty competitive, but what you could do is create your site for the general niche and then target different pages or posts in the site for the smaller niches such as black acne and cystic acne.

That way you will be building your overall site and you will be able to leverage your efforts.

On the other hand, if you could get an exact match domain for black acne or cystic acne (I have no idea if there are any available) then you would certainly get a boost for those terms.

Alternatively, you could have one main site that had all the terms you want and then smaller satellite sites (for the niche terms like black acne, cystic acne etc...) that would benefit from the exact match domains and you could use them as back links to your main site to give it more power. Of course, then you would have multiple sites to maintain instead of just 1.

Cashcow, I am thinking about launching an info product in the acne niche not just an authority site.

    Anoopchawla,

Keyword research on the free Google keyword tool will help you figure out how much traffic you might get for a sub-niche, if you ranked in Google for that term. Use exact matches to get good estimates.

Although not 100% accurate it will help you see the relative demand of the subniches you are considering.

    Also look at trends:

Google Trends: cure acne, back acne, cystic acne

So based on this back acne is looking good - it is trending upwards.

Warriors I am a bit afraid to get into a subniche back acne, because currently there is no product in the market that sells specific product for back acne.

I am a bit skeptical here because recently I created a product for a market that I rank no.1 for and get 3-4000 visits per months only to discover that its not a buying market.

    Anoopchawla,

Does back acne need a different cure? If the same cure works on the back as a general cure, then all you need to do is 'presell' by targeting the back acne sufferer and explaining that product X will suit their needs. But please only do this if what I said is actually the case, otherwise you will be misleading.

Actually, most of the things are common, but don't you think that if my sales page Headline has something related with back acne sufferer then it would improve conversions

Hi Anoopchawla, I don't know much about the acne niche, but from what you said in your post about your experience, my first question would be - is it a buying market? Do acne sufferers look more for free information to clear up their acne or are they buyers? Once you've established the answer to that question then I would start with a slightly broader niche and narrow it as you get to learn the buying patterns and the customer needs. You can research til the cows come home niches within niches, but you can't ever really know all the answers until you start doing. So ask the fundamental questions first and then test and measure, test and measure, test and measure! Good luck. Jo

I think acne is a buying market as a whole, but not too sure about sub niches like cystic acne. The thing that's confusing me is will cystic acne sufferers like to buy a product specifically on cystic acne or just from a site which talks about, acne and how to cure every kind of acne (it's bothering me because I know an acne sufferer generally suffers from both cystic and regular acne)
