Default Alternatives to PayPal Subscriptions?

Hello all,

I have a membership website and use paypal. Problem is, people have to become a paypal member before they can subscribe.

Question - is anyone aware of any GOOD alternatives to using PayPal as a payment processor?

Thanks in advance
Edward

www.2checkout.com is another option. Note there is a $50 joining fee.

Has anyone ever told you they didn't join for that reason? I imagine the number of people who you would lose for this reason would be pretty small, since many already have an account, and if not, it's pretty easy to sign up for one (especially one for just buying things).

I ask because I have membership sites using only PayPal and have never had anyone say they would not join for that reason.

Many people (including me) prefer to subscribe using PayPal since they know they can easily cancel and don't have to worry about being held hostage.

The number you'd lose from not offering PayPal would probably be greater than the number who would not join for the reason you describe.

You could use your own merchant account, but then people have to trust you with their card info and trust you to cancel them when they ask.

Clickbank has a recurring billing option that you could use.

Good point Chris. Actually, no one has told me they didn't sign up due to paypal but my hunch is many don't want to become a "member."

But the fact that many have paypal accounts may help offset this.

In the order of "things that affect how many people subscribe to your site", Paypal is fairly low down on the list.

Worth testing other options when every other stage of your site is humming, but mostly a waste of time otherwise.

Thought About Offline Consulting?
Fiona - $5,500 + $600/m 1st Week... Anthony - $7k + $594/m... Liz - $12k 1st Month...
Rob - $7k + $800/ 1st Month... Scott - $45,000 in 3m... 20/yo Jock 6-Figure Client 2nd Month
Don't you deserve the same unfair advantage?
