Internet business fundamentals....

Hey warriors,

I would like to use this thread to make a list of all the internet business fundamentals.

I'll go first...I think one of the most important things to do is to create a product that solves a problem.

Your turn

Cheers!

You need friends with varying expertise. Trying to do everything yourself is a big mistake, but it is not always a mistake for it to appear that you did more than you did (through the help of your friends).

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

That's a good idea, but coming up with a good product concept is the trick. I have a few thoughts on some interesting self-help e-books,but to date have yet to launch anything--if I do I'll keep you posted.

If you are talking about what the OP said, then what they said is "spot on." You have to know what your market wants first before you even think about offering a product.

Coming up with a good product concept first will cause you to fail. Market research is the first step in building your business.

A big Internet business fundamental is to remember that you will be paying taxes on your income. Also remember to keep receipts for all business expenses since you can deduct most of those.

Have a plan, have a plan, have a plan, have a plan!!!!

You have to learn how to plan out what you are going to do before you do it. If you don't, you have no real end goal and something will distract you at some point.

        That's a great point!

Map out step by step the actions you want to happen with all of your marketing campaigns. Make sure all the parts are in place to for the campaign to work.

Don't just submit an article to EZA and let it be.

Map out the entire marketing funnel and the expected results:
        Submit an article
Vistor will click on my link
Link will lead to blog, landing page etc.
Once there I want them to subscribe to my list, read review and make a purchase, etc.

This makes your marketing measurable and you can easily identify weak points.

Remove yourself from the mundane. Create and document processes, which can be outsourced.

it's not about the thing, so much as it's about the thing that sells the thing.
Also, market testing PRIOR to building stuff is important to save time from building things that nobody wants.

IM fundamentals are no different than those of a good fisherman...seriously.

    1. Find a lot of hungry fish (target markets that are proven buyers)
    2. Find out what hungry fish like (product research/development)
    3. Feed it to them in the most attractive way(s) possible (salepage and offers)
    4. Feed it to them in as many places as possible (search, email, banners, etc.)

    Rinse and repeat

      Yes!!!

This is just like McDonald's restaurants!!

      You have something to sell
      You have a targeted consumers
You attract and keep attracting your consumers
You expand your chain so you attract consumers from anywhere

I like the idea of being transparent. I find that if you are honest and up-front things go much better. All you have to say is "Hey, I want your email but in return you can have all this cool stuff!"

    Make SERVICE your priority.
Also, try to remember that PERCEPTION of service is more important than the quality. Huh? It's important to make sure that customers feel good about the service they receive from you.

    Check out my chain here:

Service quality -> Satisfaction -> You add something for free -> Satisfaction +1 (customer is rockin and loves you) -> Customer loyalty -> Add something else for free -> Gain a Referral -> Go back to the beginning of this chain and apply to the new customer.

Remember that the "Add something for free" part at the end of the cycle can be repeated as many times as you wish until you see a referral.

Nobody has mentioned leverage yet so I will add it in here. (Time, money, experience). I believe the quickest way to success is through leverage. Using a mentor, building a team and investing money into an advertising program are all examples of using leverage to your advantage.
