Since the algorithms are private, it's all guesswork.. "I think" or "I guess" is the only answer you'll get unless it comes from Google itself. And even then it might not be completely true.

There's different bots that do different levels of crawling.. in short, yes, Google should move onto the second page eventually. How quickly depends on which bots are crawling your site and when.

Backlinking is a good idea, but not too many too soon, and from decent pages. Ideally you want as many links pointing to your page, more than you're sending out from that page, each backlink counts as a vote, unless it comes from questionable sites, in which case it won't be counted as a vote and will likely be ignored.

Now for a can of worms. Dofollow.

Many claim Dofollow links are the only option for SEO, I disagree and here's why.

In a test we slowly sent 20,000 Nofollow backlinks to one of our test websites.. it shot to, and held top first page position.. where it currently is today. We conducted the test in 2008, the keyphrase has a monthly search volume of 55,000 and is fighting against around 30 million pages.

The site now has close to 70,000 Nofollow backlinks.

Thank you for answering.. One more question can I include articles on my site taking from article directories pointing back to them? How does google look at it as a duplicate content? I mean if I have a review site and don't got time to write a complete review for each offer, can I just take it from another article directory or review site without google lowering my ranking because of a duplicate content? Thank you!

If you take sometime researching through the forum and search specifically on duplicate content you will find quite a bit of useful information on using articles including specific answers for your last question.

From my personal experience duplicate content isn't that much of an issue. Others as you will find report differently while many more have similar experiences I have had.

Just make sure you check the terms of the article directory you take articles from as to what and how you can use. Also don't change or remove the resource box that links to the authors site and give info about them. Worst case is to take the articles and place them on your site as if you yourself are the author, that wouldn't be good at all.

One thing I have found that you may find interesting is that if you link yor sites together using articles that are similar topics, related in some way so you link to a article on one of your sites that is on baby dresses from another site on the topic of baby toys or even toys related to girls toys. If you link directly from article to article instead of article to front page for example, it is better to deep link than like most people just link to front page of site.
