Membership Sites

How do membership sites limit access to certain pages based on what list a member is in?
For example having a list to try get someone to buy a product, before they can get to the purchase page.
Or a list after they have purchased so you know that they have purchased and not just got the freebie and also so you know who to send freebies to.

    Hi Conner

    I think I know what you mean

    It depends on which type of membership script you use, but much of what you describe (if I'm reading what you want rightly) is done via the script in the background once you set your preferences etc.

    For instance if you want your members to join just a free level (but you have an upgraded paid version also), then you would set the pages so only the level they are aimed at can see them (did that make sense).

    If you don't want your members to see certain pages for a while, you "dripfeed" them so they can only access them after a certain time.

    Once they are inside the membership area you should have a page set up where they can pick up their freebies, its daft to send them when delivery can be automated.

    You will have a list of your members in your site (obviously) and again many scripts allow you to email them from the membership platform. However in MHO this isn't really a good idea especially if you're using shared hosting and you have a large membership as you'll find your delivery rates suck.

    Much better to intergrate a third party autoresponder, (which again most good scripts allow you to do)

    Yes that was helpful but i want to know how to implement certain scripts, what function lets the page know x person is compatible or y person is not.
    Really i need two lists, one before people have purchased to offer a freebie and another list after they have purchased to send updates and affiliate offeres.

    I just have no idea where to start to implement this. Aweber is currently my mailing service.

      Your question is too vague Conner (for me anyway)

      It depends on what type of script you are going to be using, they are not all made the same way

    The thing is i am not sure what script to use.

    I want to have a list that people will join because they will recieve a freebie for doing so.

    This will then direct them to the purchase page.
    After purchase they will sign to another list so i know who has purchased and who has just joined the first list.
    Also i can send out updates and offers to become affiliates.

    I need the product sales page to only be available to those in the first list, so that the product cannot be purchased unless you are in the first list.

    Is there a script that can link with a certain list as a requirement function?

      A lot depends on your needs. Some scripts offer different features and some are easier for non-programmers. To be honest you also want to find one with excellent support because there are usually issues that arise no matter how good the script is.

      A good and popular one is EasyMemberPro dot com.

    Every membership script I have seen has the options already built in for what you want. Members can join free or upgrade to Silver, Gold, Pro, or whatever yo want to call it. The membership level they are in determines what you want them to have access to. Most of this is easily set up in your admin area before you launch the site.

    Unfortunately, not much for documentation at the moment, and what you want isn't a streamlined setup. Is possible though. I'll put out a package to make that easier shortly here.

    It seems like sitelok is the one to go for, but can it be integrated with aweber?
    As i currently have a list from my squeeze page in exchange for a free report, then i need a list for those that have purchased the product ( it is this list i would need to integrate with sitelok)

    Any ideas?

      Is there one online I can get or sign up for,and create for free with or without limits and very little setup? I downloaded jrox.jam, but it will take a while to learn and set up right.
      And I need something like hostmonster or hostgator to host it on as it has certain requirements.
