Where/How do you hire support staff?

Hi Warriors,

I've outsourced all manner of things in the past but haven't yet had the need to hire someone to do regular support work until now.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go to find support staff that are English speaking and technically literate (they'll need to support PHP scripts although not write any themselves).

I've had a browse through Warriors for hire but that seems to be focused on one off project work not an on going hire type basis. But if there's any Warriors who do this kind of work and would like to discuss please let me know.

Cheers,

Andy

    Hi Andy,

I've had pretty good luck with OnlineJobs.ph. Though it's not strictly customer support, the person I've hired can/does write and edit bits and pieces of PHP, and other languages. And it's been a few months, she's pretty good at it.

You may want to try there.

    Cheers,

I wonder if you could find anyone on rentacoder? There certainly are lots of proficient people on there knowledgeable about php. Perhaps some wouldn't mind doing support?

Hi Andy, Same here.. I got mine from onlinejobs.ph and she had worked for me quite a long time too. I give her a lot of tasks as a virtual assistant.

      Hi Andy,

You can hire technical support staff from there, too. From the resumes I got for my job listing (which was a bit similar to what you're asking for), I'm confident that you'll find someone who can do what you want (i.e. edit PHP, etc).

Or, as Quentin mentioned, easyoutsource is a good place as well. I've used it in the past.

I use Hire Filipinos - Find Online Workers in the Philippines | EasyOutsource also and have hired a VA that does all my day to day work and then post projects for the more complex tasks like programming etc. My experience is that if they are any good they will cost a bit more.

I usually get them to do a basic programing skills task first. I have also used Google docs and made a questionnaire to see if they understand first. This worked well as it weeded out a lot who did not really understand what I wanted.
