.com or co.uk???? Does it really matter?

I have found a great keyword with over 2k DAILY searches in the UK (17K competition sites). So I thought I'd target the UK market and paid for a keyword.co.uk domain. However, worldwide there are over 3k daily searches for the same keyword and now I'm realising how stupid it was just to focus on the UK. Is it too late to change the URL? I've already written 13 posts plus a all the usual policies and disclaimers. Can I just point a .com at my website and would that help reach a wider audience??

    If you want to have more wider reach worldwide then .com would be better than .co.uk. As I understand that your site is quite new, then rather then redirecting the .com you should transfer the whole site over to .com it is better to do it now than after you have done some extensive link building to it.

      When making a decision over where to target I normally use Google Insights for Search unless the keyword is obviously a particular country's slang or common use of word.

    Why not do it the other way around? Move all your content to a dot com then redirect the dot co dot uk?

    Probably would be better to move it to the .com and do a 301 redirect from the co.uk unless you want to develop two sites with one more targeted to the UK.
