      hmm.. were you joking?
I added people strategically (follow 1600 lol) - based on the things I might make products out of/are popular and therefore a good idea to affiliate. Is this a good strategy..?

haha it's so fun what's stopping me is I don't have 1$ to sign up for aweber...

No offence I think you are the one being used... those people following you are trying to sell you something the little bit of time I have been on twitter just made me realise in a few years there just going to be a bunch of people posting bit.ly linked affiliate offers to each other if Twiiter does not change anything,

If you wanted targeted followers on twitter - which is what you need to make money - you will have to add plenty of value before you receive value in the form of cash.

Tweet your blog posts, articles, and content-based niche articles consistently. You will attract like-minded people and a rep for being a guy to follow. Then you can focus on making money.

I am not sure how did you manage to add so many people on Twitter in one day. I follow them manually. 50 people per day then allow one to two days for them to follow me back.

I search my target audience through Twitter search with my niche keywords so I will get more target traffic. Ya, for the part of making money, I try to blend in my affiliate link with my content. And don't spam your followers. I hate those that spam my wall. the more you post your affiliate links the more I won't click at them.

I mean, true, we all use Twitter to generate traffic but as a follower myself, if you are consistently giving interesting and relevant topics that I am interested, I don't mind clicking your affiliate links or even buy from you BUT it doesn't mean that you should go out there and throw in 10 to 20 affiliate links and spam my wall!!

OK. Cool down. Ya. Don't spam.

I would tend to not give them aff links straight away. Build up trust with your followers and send them to quality links for instance good posts on your website or other relevant posts for your topic.

This way you could pre-warm them and then once they are 'trained' to love your stuff you can gain their trust and then begin marketing to them with your aff links but only to quality products or services that are relevant. Also I would not over do it.

If on the other hand you wanted to go down the route of simply sticking aff links in every other post you could look into companies like Revtwt that specialise in this type of marketing using CPA models etc.

As long as you didn't use a auto adder then you should be fine . Try to use a lil humor with your tweets with your link included in the tweet no one likes a bot . Also some people experience a loss of followers by doing this but not to worry just be careful and also use twitter search to find future customers .

personally i think Twitter is great for sharing your content. rather than tweeting affiliate links, I tweet blog posts, websites, and content, then ocassionally a product review or squeeze page.

I have more than 500 followers on Twitters and I have it automated by sending the contents everytime I make a posting on my blog. So far I have no idea whether anyone has bought anything from my affiliate links. My purpose is to share the contents with my followers and if they do buy anything from my affiliate links I consider it as a bonus.

What a great informative post. I may be wrong,as I am newbie to SEO, tweeting your blog post should be first step and second step is posting affiliate links. I am still not clear how to get followers. Please guide. Thanks

  • In my opinion, the best way to use Twitter is not to sell directly. I syndicate my current blog posts, as well as resyndicate my old blog posts - and they always get views. I also have my EzineArticles account set up to put out tweets when my new articles are released. Apart from that, I just put out friendly tweets, as well as preselling stuff that I'm going to be releasing.

One of the sub aims is to use Twitter to get prospects onto my list, which you can do much better by giving away free high quality information. That way, you can sell to them much easier via the list than by Twitter (although, even then I'd never go for the hard sell).

I agree with this, there are a lot of elements to it, and people are rightfully cynical about the chances of making money from Twitter.

I'm getting a nice trickle of income from my main Twitter account, but only a tiny portion of the people you follow will convert, I have 16,500 followers to get that, but the number is not that important, it's about finding targeted followers.

I've got lots of ideas to help you on my site, and it's very specific stuff you can implement as well. If you haven't got TweetDeck yet, you really should, it's free, and you handle specific keywords that involve hashtags such as '#Worldcup merchandise -www -http' as I've been blogging about. Then assign a Twitter client to follow all these people, ideally at the busiest time on Twitter, (1900-2100 GMT), then send out the messages right after finishing the follows at the busiest time, so you get the most reads out of it.
