Paypal debit card query.

Hello.

I have a few questions regarding this.

Is the Paypal debit card only provided to US and UK citizens?

Must one have a business account before you can get one?

And can you confirm if it is a debit card or a credit card?

    I heard it's a debit card.

I can confirm that it is a debit card. Can't answer your other questions, though. I just got mine, following the advice of another warrior.
I do have a business account, but honestly cannot remember whether I did both at the same time, probably not, since I got them for separate reasons.

I've had a look. You need either a business or a premier account.
It's very easy to get a premier account. I'm sure there are tons of guides that will show you how you get one of those by typing in "paypal premier account how to" into a search engine.

I live in Ireland and couldn't get one (Not supported here), and my father tried in the UK and the same answer received there.

The questions I can answer are:

It is a debit card, however, you can use it like a credit card without entering a pin and if you do you earn cash back on it.

You can have it on either a business or a premium account.

You didn't ask, however, it is very handy, the instant someone pays you you can withdraw cash at any store or ATM and pay for purchases at any restaurant or other place of business.

I have one (debit MasterCard) and have had it for about 7 years, although I don't think Canadians can get it any more.

I've had it so long I still get 1.5% back instead of 1%.

I live on mine for the most part. I have earned about $4000.00 in cash back to date.

    A great thing to have.

As a fellow Canadian, I can confirm.. It's no longer offered here.

Paypal offers a debit card that draws on your paypal account. You don't need a business account to have one but you do need your account verified and linked to a bank account.

Just requested an additional card and got this message:

"PayPal Debit Card is not available to International Users at this time.".

    Thanks for the info.

Can anyone else from the UK confirm if it is available to UK Paypal users?
(I know the one reply said it isn't available but anyone else?)

Yeah, they used to offer it to Canadians, but not anymore. Had one before, and it was excellent... until an ATM in Budapest ate it. :-(

Everyone's pretty much answered your questions but I wanted to give everyone a tip that travels and has a Paypal debit card:

If you're traveling out of the country, be sure to keep your funds in US currency. I thought I was being "smart" by converting it to Canadian dollars (since I was visiting the country) in order to save on fees and exchange rates.

Imagine my surprise when I tried to buy things and my card wouldn't work!

After a call to a Paypal rep, everything was sorted out, but I still had to convert my funds back to US currency (which luckily was done in a few mins).

The good news is that everytime I use the card, I do save a few cents on purchases due to the exchange rate. Now if only the US Dollar didn't suck so much right now....lol

    Another tip.

When traveling call Paypal debit card department and the regular support and tell them where you are going (what states / country you will be in). This will prevent them from potentially declining transactions due to their anti fraud measures.

So it seems that the Paypal debit card is now only being issued to US citizens; and a few Canadians who previously applied and got one can still it.
