You are correct in assuming it only takes a few steps, but unfortunately they require a knowledge base to accompany them. You are best off going to the WSO section and looking for a guide on niche marketing aimed at beginners.

Honestly, it is not possible to tell you all you need to know about niche marketing in one forum post.

You should definitely check out the 30 day challenge - you'll learn how to pick a niche and then what to do after you picked it. Plus it's free:

I agree with Cashcow. the 30DC method is about as simple as you can get, yet very very affective.
    Browse Amazon's magazine section
Find a topic your interested in that has a lot of magazines about it
Then (and this is my own personal suggestion) go onto forums about the niche and pick a sub niche ...

Pretty simple stuff my friend, I'm sure you can handle it.

Warriors gave you good examples in this thread of yours: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ew-niches.html

If those wasn't enough, maybe IM isn't your thing. IM takes time, resources, commitment and energy.

Finding a niche can take sometime. When I want find a niche I take a piece of paper and start out looking at what kind of work I an good at. I also look at my hobbies, what I am passionate about, what do I know. I write down all of this informaion down. Once this is done then I look at what do I want to do. Then I look at who has the product or service and I sign up with them and start marketing that product on the internet.
Try this out and see what happens. I hope this has helped you.

Finding a niche is an art and a science. It's best to consider topics that interest you since you will be collecting and relaying information regarding that niche.

You can use this list to help you come up with some ideas. Additionally, this article on how to find niche markets may steer you in the right direction.

    Good Luck.

    Okay, let's cut the crap..
What doesn't take time? Unless you outsource..
Why targeting only things you love (unless you love all popular niches). Go for the money...

Niche = A special area of demand for a product or service.

I don't find niches. I find products and then investigate if it's profitable and checking on the competition before getting into it.
    • Basically, go to any category in CB, Paydotcom, Amazon etc. it doesn't matter. Find product that you want to dip into.
    • Check the source page to see the keywords,
    • expand the keywords with Google keyword tool,
    • Filter away those with less than 1000 searches / month
    • check them on Google (if there're a lot of Adwords ads; that's the most basic sign that people are spending money into it).
    • See what pages pop up in the search results - if pages appears to be from free sites (article directories, social sites - Squidoo, Youtube etc.), save that keywords into a separate notepad.
    • Repeat for all keywords (long tailed - more than 2 words long).
    • If you can have more than 10 long tailed... for that niche, it's a profitable niche to venture.
    • If you have some cash to spend, don't build a complete website targeting the niche, instead, setup a simple campaign in Adwords for all keywords and check the conversion.
    • If you can get a sales conversion of more than 1%, I personally consider that's a good niche.
    • Then you can invest in building a whole site for it; get SEO traffic and save your PPC.
    • Rinse and repeat for the next niche.

    Cheers!

If you are looking to make money with niches try going to How-To Help and Videos - For Dummies and find a book you might be interested.

Chances are that if publishers are going to spend so much money and time to create and develop books for a particular niche, there is money to be made ;-)
