REALLY Local Search for Local Biz Promotion -- No, Really!

For those of you working the online promotion of local businesses, take a hard look at getting into the little, bitty locales. That's because you may be ignoring specific "rich niches" that could be paying you top dollar for your services.

While it's nice to dominate a major geographical locale, some of the little townships, villages and located-near-the-big-rock-by-the-pine-tree spots in the search engines are ripe for the picking. Professional practices, big-ticket sellers and the like can be located in out-of-the-way places, but still benefit from targeted local promotion.

This is especially true for one-industry towns. For example, Saugerties, NY is a major hub for antique dealers in the North-East USA. The town itself is about 1/2 of a block of businesses, but there are a bunch of antique dealers, used book sellers, etc., in that location and the surrounding area.

If you're thinking in terms of getting the right businesses to promote in your area, look at the ones that have one or two ZIP codes (for those of you in the US) or postal codes and a big ad budget. It may take some digging, but they are there. These folks need help -- and you can give it to them!

    Thanks Vince.

Good post - makes me feel better as I live in a fairly small town, and
I am surrounded by small villages. So there is plenty of gold to dig I
    am sure.

      Great tip.

Small towns and even many suburbs of larger cities are VERY easy to get to the top of the search engines for.

And if you're doing that for businesses where people are likely to search for their products or services online then you're likely to help them make a lot of money.

For that you can charge a premium.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

Very easy is an understatement. It's like shooting fish in a barrel -- with a cannon! In some niches, with a blog post or two, a social networking page and some social bookmarking backlinks, you can take over the entire FIRST PAGE of Google for the right search terms.

If you do that in advance, a savvy business owner will see that what you've done is priceless -- and you can charge accordingly to rent that space!

HA, I thought I was the only one to see this...

          My competitors are:
          • marxist - can't sell thier way out of a paper bag
          • hung up on web design
          • actually thought if they ranked in Google♥ they'd be able to stay there indefinatly

Al my local clients have MULTIPLE listings in Googleâ„¢

my local competition is scratching their heads and muttering to themselves:

"Who is this David Bruce and why are my clients (who were #1 in Googleâ„¢) now being crowded out by this new guy?"

          "How is he doing this!!!???"

"For crying out loud, the guy doesn't even have a car!"

"He doesn't even own his own computer!"

"He lived in a Homeless Shelter just 8 months ago???"

          http://www.warriorforum.com/blogs/da...s-shelter.html

"And every client he gets rockets to the top spot in Googleâ„¢ and stays there???"

          "WTF?????"

  • These techniques I use are an outgrowth of Craig Desorcy's Master/Slave page method. In fact, they also work in general -- do a Google search for targeted local traffic. I have 7 of 10 of the first page results. I'm also at the top of the page for local targeted traffic.
