$200 Investment to $800 - What happened?

Hey Guys,

I decided to hook up with a Business Partner and buy a Forum Website. We bought the site for around $200, and guess what I just sold the site for $850 ($50 in fees )... Guess what that is? $600 in profit.

I thought I would go step by step in this thread, in what I did. I want the members of this forum to know, that I'm 15, but I do know what I'm talking about in some aspects of , the internet.
  1. I went around to various forums; looking for websites that had potential for a higher sale price, and are in a needed niche.
  2. I found sites that were priced low, but yet the same sites on places like flippa, were going higher.
  3. I purchased the site, at $200.
  4. During the time of ownership, I spent around an hour on it. Just checking up on things. When I bought the site, I made sure it was something, that would run it self. That's important
  5. I listed the site on the top seller Flippa.com ~ This is the BEST place to sell your site, without a doubt.
  6. I ended up with a $300 profit, and so did my partner.

Not bad for a day during my summer break eh?

Caleb

Thanks Man. ~ Appreciated. I was going to launch this WSO Style, but I'm going on a vacation.. And I just don't feel like making one . Plus, flipping sites is too simple to be in a product.

Now to find more stuff to keep me busy...

Well done, didnt realize the fees at Flippa were so reasonable. Is it something you can sustain?

It was just Flippa Fees. The vBulletin fix cost me money. I kinda included that. Actually when we bought the site, the whole login system bombed, so I included that in my fees.

Domaining is pretty sweet to in that you don't have to improve.
Yeah, I wish I could do better at domaining, I tried and failed a couple times. I find developed sites are easier to sell. Just my opinion though.

      Hey,

Not very much. I think the traffic actually went down while we owned it (hah).
