What to do when your competitor is hiding in your list?

Hey everyone,

I had some success creating an online freebie and been building a list for the past couple of weeks (~20 people/day average).

One of my competitors joined my list (using a cryptic mail address), got the freebie and just announced to his Twitter followers that he's creating an identical offering.

I was planning on working with my list to create the full offering (a-la PLF), but now that he's hiding in there eavesdropping on my conversations with them, I feel comfortable sharing my plans with them, especially that he may beat me to market with his product.

What should I do in such situation?

You can't stop the competition lurking to steal and repackage your offer. Just keep doing what you do best, there is enough traffic out there for everyone IMHO. I wish you all the best.

Createyouwealth you said it best. There is enough traffic for everybody.

Competition is a thought generated in the mind, it's an idea. The only competition is lack of creativity.

Focus on creating the awesome freed products for your list and everything takes care of itself.

Let him do whatever he wants.. and then keep up your game so you are doing better.

Your "conversations" with your list don't need to be heard by the rest of your list.

Ask the questions, but don't reveal the answers, so to speak.

As you move forward... all your competitors will get on your list to see what you are upto. It's nothing strange and not something I would worry about.

Competition is good..

I remember when I set up my membership sites several years ago that I had a number of "competitors" sign up and I thought just let them get on with it. (I knew I was the best)

All you need to do (as has already been said), is make sure you stay ahead, at least it will keep you on your toes

Ah, but for you to know this, I'll bet you are on his list.

If not, you need to be.

Don't worry. There are soooooo many competing products, and people who buy one ebook/course about IM usually purchase many. They might even buy your product and his.

I don't know your exact market, but in many niches so-called "competitors" can actually become JV partners. Remember to always look at each situation from several angles.

Dude seriously, my work is so different and unique that people can not keep copying me for long... I'm just too good.

It's the same attitude you should have... If they are always copying you then you are doing your job well. The problem comes when you have to start copying them.
