Integrated Shopping Cart + Memberships

Greetings all,

I need help finding a solution that has both an integrated shopping cart and members area control, all part of the same script that I would host myself. A leased license would be alright, but I need to be able to host it. I see a lot of nice membership scripts/plugins listed here and there with carts that can sell downloads, but they seem to be missing the ability to sell shippable products. Paypal WPPro is also something I'm looking for.

(begin tl;dr)
I've tried Drupal and hated it. It sounded promising with it's robust permissions system, but I spent more time trying to work around bugs/issues and looking for answers to bugs that haven't been fixed for months (paypal double-or-no email bug in Ubercart) than getting anything done.

Joomla sounds similar to Drupal, except you have to pay for more plugins, from different sources. I'd rather pay one source and have one place to go for support.

osCommerce and derivatives honestly sound worse than Drupal, and sound like a real pain in the butt to theme.

Wordpress-based stuff would be fine, as my site's currently running on that. I've yet to find something for WP that had both great member-control options AND a shopping cart that could deal with group(member)-based discounts, and sell physical products. Maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places.

(/end tl;dr)

Any suggestions, reviews and experiences would be much appreciated.

The way to pay *one source* is to outsource it to someone via a freelance site. Then you don't have to spend huge amounts of time on it.

I generally prefer wordpress for most types of websites, but when it comes to shopping carts with elaborate requirements, Joomla has worked out better for me. For example in a site for eyeglasses and contacts that require parallel fields -- for left and right eye lens strength -- adapting a Joomla extension proved to be the best option (requiring 20+ hours of programming to adapt it). Joomla and existing free plugins also worked out better for a site for purchasing dog-related products.

Anything beyond basic shopping cart functionality could probably all be done with wordpress, but it would require radical customization and the creation of new plugins (or via functions.php). Again, either outsource it or do the programming yourself (not an option for me since I'm not a programmer).
