Google wants to beef up its search results by getting into the content business now....interesting.

Who does this have implications to...scrapers, RSS built sites...what do you think?

    I am sure you will be able to find some benefits from this, granted that it actually happens (which it probably will knowing google). People may be able to figure out what is in google's content that makes them rank in the top results (Oh...they will be).

    BUT, this presents an obvious problem. For IMers who focus on ranking in the top positions for their keywords will find it even harder to do so with google as a competitor.

    Given this thought, you have to realize that google will not be covering every single niche(and keyword) there is, so as they always say...back to the basics.

    Niche and keyword research, as they are important now, will be more important than ever if this happens.

    Google is crossing the line here slightly. They already give preference to Youtube links now imagine their own written content! Competing against Google's own content can be rough.

    I wonder if Google will purposefully outrank wikipedia for certain content??

    So if Google is collecting and ranking content, what will keep them from always placing their content first in SERPs and pushing everybody else's content to the second page? I think Google is starting to become the Evil Empire, day by day.

    well if you look at it at a differnt angale this could be easyer then we think, look at it this way insted of havin like 1500 keywords you would only need 5 and that would cover about the same amount, just follow googles foot steps, it will make more leg work for the key word but less key words means you can just or on a few and work them hard...well thats the way i see it.

    Drew...I kind of see it the other way. Google will crowd out the market for the obvious keywords and we will have to resort to targeting obscure and long-tail keywords if we want to compete. But maybe my viewpoint is off...I've only had half a Diet Dew so far this morning. ;-)

    Booster, i see what u sayin, what im thinkin is they will only have so many keywords for ur nich witch will be great in a way cause less key word search but then again that could hurt cause if im looking at this the way i think i am they would have a group of key words listed under one key word frase? wich if thats the case you could just put dog grooming or,dog wash, dog brush,dog...... and it would all go under dog sales for the key word. wich means in stead of working all the key words just use the ones they all group to. well like i said thats how i see it , but dont mean im right in anyway, I AM STILL A LEARNER AT THIS..

      it will probably be the end of google as we know it today. The move can be actually dangerous for them, as people want to be in charge... another search engine that actually give space to others will come up.

      about the comment of google going after IMers... these are old news. Most of the big swings google had were to eliminate the middle man.
