Why do marketers send emails with the subject"order confirmation"?

I have to say I am so tired of getting emails from lists that say "Order Confirmation" in the subject.
If I order something I usually know it.
To me that subject line just says "Spam Enclosed".
I have a new procedure,if it says order confirmation and I didn't order anything, I hit unsubscribe.

I feel better already!

Yeah ... pretty common way to trick you into opening their spam email. I get payment notifications also that are the same crap.

The current big thing is people that send returned mail notifications. But when you open the email to see what wasn't delivered, it's spam. Very annoying.

Maybe people that send these kind of messages are VERY DESPERATE GURUS!

They might launch $5M products with $2M refund and half of the rest goes to their affiliates, some of the left over goes to pay for their bills!

If they're really success, why don't they tell us the truth. "I made $10,000 everyday, but I spent $9,999 everyday just to make those".

I guess they don't make that much after all. That's why we keep seeing one launch after another from the same people.

I unsubscribe most of them already!

    Hey KimW

The reason they write "Order Confirmation" in the title is basically to get the readers attention, I honestly find it very Annoying, and thats exactly what I do, I "Unsubscribe" .

And theres another thing that I am tired of, and it is a title saying "Check this Product", That is definitely a Spam, I recieve a couple each day of users I never subscribed to.

I had one today that takes the cake.

Subject; "Scott, I hope you enjoyed your copy of our xxxx". I open the email and see "Are you using xxxx alot? Does it work for you? If you're having trouble be sure to download our xxxx help manual".

I reply to the "guru": "hey, I never bought xxxx, I think you have me on the wrong list"
His reply: "Yeah but you can buy it now for only $47, just click here".

    .......

Yeah, that really is a "turn off", and I too do hit the unsubscribe button right away.

Another kind subject lines I hate and seem to shout "spam enclosed" out loud are those starting with "Re:". And guess what? I've seen pretty well known marketers doing that sort of stuff. Talk about loosing credibility.

It's obvious that the problem with making an autoresponder series is how to keep the subcriber interested in the long run. What compounds the problem is the I have noticed the increased frequency of the emails with these same subject lines.

The smarter people are going to ignore or unsubsribe, the people fairly new to the "game" are going to open every one.

It reminds me at one time I used to fall for the "you're the one millionth visitor" banner ad As time goes on, I got wise to these marketing techniques.

In the end, these IM'rs are really "weeding out" their list to only contain the people who will just open these emails.

Because they're too damn pathetic, lasy and stupid to spend a little time thinking up creative and original subject lines...

    There is no other reason.

There is one particular marketer that really loves this headline - needless to say I've unsubscribed. Guys - please be original - It is not working. I immediately think someone hacked my credit card online.

They do it because people who are not as well 'educated' in the field of IM are curious when confronted with a subject reading 'order confirmation'. Not only out of curiousity but also there is a fear involved. The reader may be worried about fraud, these subjects serve one purpose, to get the reader to open the email, once the email has been opened they leave the headline to grab the readers attention and to move their attention to the copy and not the original curiousity or fear.

I have had a few marketers confront me with similar subjects, reaction? Unsubscribe.

"Your first sale online", "order confirmation". I just delete them. They really just piss me off.

How about the ones that appear to have been sent by you? (By this I mean from my email address to my email address). At this point I don't even open them, I just delete.
