Looking for some guidance on increasing traffic & SEO and if we are going along the right lines!

Hi there
I came across this site the other day while researching SEO and feel like I have been on it for two days solid reading all your great advice! I actually read a post by Shawn Horwood and contacted him - he was so helpful to me a complete stranger - so thank you Shawn!

I run an e-commerce site in the uk selling handbags. we have been going since Sep 09 and also have two other parts to the business which are "offline". The site has been getting us a little income, about £200 a month on avg. Not great really but what can I expect when I have just been tinkering with seo and adwords. We get anywhere between 800 - 2000 unique visitors per month depending on our adwords, however we know this is nowhere near enough traffic.
I try to keyword every item I put up and have keyworded the front page etc. I have just started uploading videos to youtube and have a facebook/twitter page. I know there is so much still to be done in terms of seo (especially since I came across this site) but I am overwhelmed and just dont know where to start ! Between senuke, all the backlinking software, trafficgeyser, tube mogul etc I am just baffled! i would be so grateful if someone out there could point me in the right direction of where to go next. I would really like to outsource a lot of this however I have come across so many SEO companies that expect so much money and dont seem to return the results. I understand that it will take a few months at least to feed into google and Im prepared for this. If anyone could suggest any good guys that may be interested in helpign I would appreciate it a lot. I would also be grateful if you could point me in the right direction of which programmes etc to use and what to start with as I am prepared to put work in myself.

Sorry for the very long ramble, I just want to get things moving finally as I feel I have been putting this on the back burner for far too long.

Many thanks in advance
Louise
