Where to hire Philipinos ?

Well I hear people are hiring Philipinos for like $1/hour , I just need simple database entry and I am willing to pay more than that, and few months ago I've been to that site, but just forgot it, can anyone tell me the site?

Go to craigslist.org and click on the Manila section.

    Very good.

    Greetings Luka,

Craigslist, Philippines ... Manila has worked for me.

You may have to pay a $1.50 to $2 an hour?

Try to do a test, to check the persons ability and reliability.

Remember that power outages are normal and you may not hear from your VA or two or three days ... so get a backup phone number from them, just in case?

    Cheers ... Ron

$300/month will get you a high-quality worker that is willing to work 40 hours/week.

Quick question though, are there a lot of them available?

Obviously some of you have done it, but I mostly see job offers and no "local" poster.

Last but not least.. how do you pay them? Paypal?

Ya I am wondering about payments too, I am pretty much looking for someone to do simple work, willing to pay maybe $3/hour or more, depends on my budget, I am not looking to hire now, in a week or so, because these days might be the happiest days of my life

$2.00 an hour is very good. $3.00 is way to much!

You can get a college educated database programmer for less than $300.00 a month, full-time. That's less than 2 bucks an hour.

      Hope this helps.

These rates sound almost unbelievable - yes I know I am from India and to get quality output from work done in India it seems you need to pay at least 5-6 times, if not more, compared to the Phillippinos' rates.

          Fred,

You can go to www.bestjobs.ph. Look along the left side under Employers.
          Do a Resume' search.
          Select nationwide only.
I like a resume' date of 1 month or less.
I don't care about "right to work".
Keywords - Something you are familiar with. Like PHP programmer or whatever. You can review the resume's and get an idea of salary expectations.

If a high amount is listed like 5000/month, they are talking PHP or Filipino pesos. You can do conversions at Currency Exchange Rate Conversion Calculator.

Have fun. Let us know what you find.

          Hope this helps.

You should read this discussion(still a newbie, can't post some links damn it!):

        http(colon)//www(dot)odesk(dot)com/community/node/11800

Some good points about the discussion:

        * The majority of the jobs ALWAYS go to the lowest bidder, and most of them are 2 or 3 dollars an hour or less.

        * If a buyer hires at .75cents/hours .Everyone says he gets what he pays for .Its not always true. Its very hard to get first job in odesk . some high quality providers also low there rates to get the first project .Some clever buyers know that well and make use of that .They get the job done for cents with high quality results.odesk have only around 600000 providers now ,more will join in the coming years and this chain reaction to get the first job will continue and buyers will take advantage of that.

But aren't the Philippines college education costing even more than $300/month losing investment for them lol.
        I can't answer that.

But, I was "chatting" with my Philippine VA yesterday. She pay 150 US dollars per month rent for a 3 bedroom, 1 bath house.

Not everything is cheap though. A small Starbucks coffee is about 3 bucks.

Contrary to popular belief, the best Filipino outsourcers are not found in bestjobs.ph or other job sites.

Truth is, at least 85% of filipinos are looking for a part time job. What I suggest is you find someone from a university (most probably a faculty member) and make them your middle man in hiring your writers and VA's.

This way, you will get be dealing with someone having excellent english and who knows A LOT of people who are dying to get these kind of jobs.

What's so good about this technique?

    > Only hire topnotch workers - guaranteed
    > Cheaper - They will not be coming of as a "foreigner" so its cheaper. (Most filipinos ask higher pays if they know the customer is a foreigner) Make sure you use PHP in paying and not USD though.

How do I know it works?
Well, ive been using this method to get topnotch VA's work for me. My writer is a cum laude grad from the region's top university.

This is just a tip of the iceberg though. If you need more info, drop me a PM and ill see what I can do to help out.

Wow that's rock bottom prices aren't they. Looking for a programmer in the near future. I guess I'll be searching from some VAs shortly. If they are indeed college educated programmers for $3 it's definitely a good buy.

But aren't the Philippines college education costing even more than $300/month losing investment for them lol.

      Interesting, Thanks for the tip.

Honestly I find it hard to find good writers from India. I've purchased a few articles at 0.007-0.01/ word but the writing is still average not as advertised.

I'll probably try some Filipino writers in the future and see how their quality and cost is.

    Hmmm...

...database entry work, like populating your ecommerce site with products, descriptions and images, or

...site database management and configuration (more tech than actual data entry)?

...though I don't think this matters because if you have a detailed step-by-step text guide in doing this properly at the fastest posssible time with 0 to little problems,

...then I can assign an available inhouse employee or a homebased subcontractor with relevant skills, knowledge and experience as your assistant in a heartbeat.

Mods, if this is self promotion, kindly pardon me and please delete this post.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't want to hire someone for less than 5 dollars an hour. I mean, you are going to have to communicate with this person and interact with them. How competent and reliable can a human being be if you are only paying them a fraction of the minimum wage in your own country?

I've learned my lessons with outsourcing, and to this day I won't pay someone something tiny even for a small job. It incentivizes them to screw it up and not care as much. Looking at minimum wage workers in fast food should carry enough evidence for that.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. Filipinos are hardworking people and they speak english as their second language. That's the reason why BPOs and Call Center business is booming right here. For me, to get them to work for $1 an hour is already an exploitation because that's way too much lower than the current minimum wage in Manila.

I agree with this concept entirely. My company maintains several "offshore" locations (Pakistan, India, Philippines & Argentina in the works).

We go through hundreds of applications and tons of interviews. The skill set of those, like anywhere else, massively varies.

$1/hour, in my opinion, no matter where in the world you're located - for a quality worker is insulting. Of course people have to eat, so you will find it here and there online.

Reliability... Power outages, internet connectivity problems, etc are rampant in some of these areas. When working with a staff member who works for you from home, there's very little chance they have redundant power and internet backups to definitely be around for you when you need.

Keep these things in the back of your mind as you look for the "cheapest" option.

I have been using oDesk for awhile now and I only hire from the Philippines. I pay between $1-$4 per hour depending on what I need. It's just like anything else though, trial an error. One thing I have learned is when you find someone good, stick with them! Giving bonuses, etc also makes for great relationships and created better workers. Also, INTERVIEW BEFORE YOU HIRE! Use Skype and speak with them, not just chat.

Try Odesk.com and look for a person from the Phillipines. Data entry type people are easier to find there , they are fast, and have good communication skills. I got 2 that do that. Though I'd say data entry is on the lower end, so you're looking at $1.67 probably. I have yet to see anyone do a super fast job and charge $1.

As someone who currently has 20+ full-time employees from the Philippines, I can say that if you're looking for full-time workers, it's hard to beat. They're very good people to work and the $2-$3/hour price (based on the average person making around $350/mo.) is right in line based on my experience but like anywhere, you need to interview just like you would if you were hiring someone here. If you have only short-term work (especially programming), I'd suggest sites like vWorker. Your interview time will be cut down a lot and your cost will be more predictable.

On a serious note, I've hired fellow Filipinos but I've never quite paid as low as some of the other posters here. Filipinos living in The Philippines that I've worked with have excellent English communication and writing skills -- and they do excellent work.

You can find freelancers (not just Filipinos) just about anywhere including right here on WF. Pay them fairly. ;o)
