Using Other's Ebooks and Images

Hello everyone, I have a question about using copyrighted ebooks for a bonus.I am a affiliate for some tattoo sites.I created a bonus page to entice people to join through my affiliate link.I surfed the internet net and found ebooks for free download. They are copyrighted.I plan on giving the ebooks away for free, as I found them.I listed the books on my site and took a picture from each one to use next to the description of each ebook.I also used a picture from a book that is sold in hard copy as the header ban for my site.I had found a few pages of it for free down load.None of the ebooks stated ,that I could not use them this way.I also downloaded 1000'S of tattoo designs. They were also free to download. Can I also give these away, without worry.
Can I legally use the ebooks and the images in this manner without being sued over copyright of the books and images. Thank you for any advice, Charles

There were no disclaimers in the books?

I personally wouldn't do it/use it without permission from the author.

You don't know if the people offering the free downloads had to obtain permission to do so. They may have neglected to add information that the original author requires.

You could get in trouble. JMO

    Hi Charles,

I definitely wouldn't use them. You could contact the authors to make sure The thing is-even if they were free for YOU to download, that doesn't mean you can give them away. Some people give things away for people to opt in to their list, etc.

There are plenty of places that offer PLR and Resale Rights to ebooks for pennies on the dollar. That way you'll know they are legit.

    Good luck!

    Charles,

You need to ask the author of each book before giving it away, unless there's a clear statement in the book itself or on the original author's site saying you can do so.

Note: The original author's site. Do NOT trust second-hand "permission."

To clarify that, I used to promote a free report that I wrote, as a way to show people what they could expect if they signed up for my newsletter. I found a few people giving it away on their sites, claiming that anyone who downloaded it had the right to give it away also.

None of those people had any business offering that report. The fact that I didn't charge cash for it does not mean it was fair game. The "second-hand permission" was worse than meaningless - it was dangerous.

Similarly, be careful with "resale rights" products. For example, I've seen places selling resale rights for Bob Serling's "Power Copywriting" course. With one exception, (The Internet Marketing Center), they are all breaking the law. As are the folks who bought those rights in good faith and are selling the product - unless they bought them from IMC.

Don't play around with this stuff. It's not worth it.

You need to ask the author BEFORE using them.
Unless they came with resell rights....and if they did you would know it!
