Simple question for some

Hi there

This may sound like a really simple question to those who have been succesful online for some time but I just need a little bit of advice when it comes to keywords. I understand you need to get words related to your niche but what do you do with them? If you write an article do you just stick some of them in the content, if oyu have a blog do you put them in your tags/labels?

Thanks in advance
Elljay x

Thats right....keywords are used for search engine optimisation.
Those keywords that you pick and use for your articles, blogs and websites will help the search engine search your content for relevancy.

A must in your title and a few through out the article, less that 8%. compared to article/post text. Yes on putting them in tags.

Just make sure you don't over do it, don't make it spammy. Also related keywords help.

Every article that you write, you definitely want to place your targeted keywords within the Title Tag of your articles. I would stick with about a 2 to 3% keyword density so you stay within the SEO guidelines.

Thanks for the info guys, sorry can I also ask how do you go about finding the best keywords. I have used google keywords but I dont really understand the concept. If I had a niche of weight loss would I not just use words such as lose weight, diet, how to lose weight, etc etc. Sorry but it all so confusing when you are starting out

        Hi Elljay,

I think I might be able to answer all your questions, but you'll have to send me a private message. I can't help you here, because some might consider that advertising. And that's not at all what I'm trying to do.

I'll be on standby If you want my help.

I just want to make sure I understand you correctly, so please don't take this the wrong way. I intend to help as much as I can on the Forum itself, but this is just too controversial of a subject and I wouldn't no where to start explaining SEO accept through the eCourse that I created to help others get over the regular speed bumps.

If you were applauding my willingness to try and reach out, than I just wanted to say thank you and I hope that I can be of more assistance.

        Hi Elljay,

I got your private and I'm glad to be able to help you, and I do apologize if you did not get a reply back in confidence. I'm still learning how to use the Warrior platform.

I believe 2 to 3% is good too. I have seen people who say they use 8% all the way up to 10 or 12%, but this seems WAY overdoing it to me. I like to stay around 2% myself, and my articles rank very well the majority of the time.

you may use those words, but then it might take you 2-3 years to take down some of those huge websites on the first page. The thing with keywords is that you should look for keywords with the highest amount of searches per month and the lowest competition. Lets take your example, weight loss: you could use something like "loosing weight by doing exercises" and the list can go on, but you get the general idea.

as a sidenote I don't think that you should not go for the big keywords like "loose weight" just that you should establish yourself on some more long tail keywords that you can rank faster and then optimize some part of your site for those that have like a gazillion competing websites

Welcome to the first and most confusing step: Keyword research.

It can totally get you frustrated.

And then once you get that sorted out you have to figure out how to get those keywords into an article and have it make sense, LOL!

Also the funny thing with that is, I do all the research before I just go rush out and buy a domain name. It is not a very fun process and there's a lot of variables that partake in my final decision.

It looks like you got your questions answered. I have one that I need answered as well.

I am doing my keywords per the bum marketing method. When I find keywords that are less searched (15,000 or under in quotes on google) alot of times there are no sponsored links to the right, is this still a good keyword or should I ditch it? I feel I spend way too much time analyzing my keywords. I have not invested the money for google analytics yet.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Awesome question! I also use quotes in my keyword phrases to check in on how much competition I will be up against.

As a rule of thumb, I don't go beyond 5,000 competing web pages when I do a Google search in quotes. I have found that in most cases you are more likely to have a chance at a better PR as well instead of competing with the big dogs.

thanks for the tip. What about there being no sponsored links on the right hand side? Most of the time I find that there are none when you put the keywords in quotes. Also, I am glad I asked a good question! I have many more where that one came from!!

here is a tip: you can go to bummarketingmethod.com and sign up for the free course on article marketing, it is good info, and best of all it is free! Yeah! And then, once you do that, what we are talking about will make more sense to you . If you cant click on the link, go to google and type in the words and it will be one of your first returns on the left.

Also, are you in Ellijay, GA? If so, I am close by, I would love to meet, mix and mingle with fellow IM in the area, just to hang out with like minded people would be such a blast.

Thats right...and to increase the click rate use as many keywords possible, some may have a max. You should try freekeywords.wordtracker.com/. They usually have pretty good ones. Good Luck!
