    Hey!

I'll save you some time man. As long as you have your basic SEO factors in place such as the correct meta tag, the correct keyword density, correct title tag etc etc then you have most of what you need.

The real secret to ranking on page one of Google is simply 'BACKLINKS'

I've even tested this with an empty webpage with no content whatsoever. However just because of the sheer amount of backlinks attached to that site, it managed to rank on page one of Google within a few days and the keyword i ranked for had 40,000 monthly!

My advice? Get some good quality Backlinks!

Hope you find this useful dude

I hear if you are gathering backlinks by hand (not automating things) that it is not humanly possible to create too many backlinks to upset the Google machine.
Sometimes you may fall off for a few days after aggressive backlinking but I always seemed to come back better than ever when that happened.
And this usually only happens with newer domains or sites that have been sitting idle it seems. Of late I have not dropped at all even with my current aggressive campaigns. I have moved up though

You can check out their back links and try to get the same back links they have. You can see the keyword density of the keyword you are ranking for on their site and try to match that and add more keywords then them.

First I check I'ts PR, and generally that will give you an Idea of the quality of its backlinks. Then go right ahead and do a linkdomain:"wwwxcompetitorsitexcom" for the first ten or so sites for that keyword, analyse the backlinks, compile a list of the good ones that are achievable, then get the links.
I'll practice this at some stage during the initial link building phase of what ever project I'm, if I'm looking for a good serp that is.

I have Jon Legers WebCompAnalyst tool that works very well for this task as it is focused on that need. Good for dropping in website urls as well as keywords.

The same information is inside Market Samurai but needs a little more time and skill to access. I therefore use both tools together which works very well. Nothing else needed.

On page SEO, backlinks (not just the number, but quality and anchor text used in the backlinks), age of the domain (a bigger factor than you may think), size of the competitors site, etc...

You can do all of this separately, I usually use Market Samurai to make it faster and more accurate.
