I wander about automatic social bookmarking such as using Auto Social Poster or SE Nuke. You publish a post on your blog and it is automatically bookmarked on 20-30 sites (e.g. autosocial poster). Are there real SEO benefits from such bookmarking? Almin |

Absolutely. It's still a great way to get a blog/site indexed quickly. Now, staying power is a different story altogether, but for a quick infusion of staggered backlinks and quick indexing..it's a good tool.

It's not a waste of time, I believe it helps. Whenever I submit, I get a few hits, along with quick spidering by google (if it's a new site).

Yes, submitting to social bookmarking sites is one of the easiest way to get some "Google love." Unfortunately, most people don't do it because it's very time consuming to set up social bookmarking accounts. |

One of the tips i tell people i coach on the side, is to incorporate an automatic bookmarking program into their daily/weekly promotion. It really does help. But to be successful, i'd recommend having several user profiles per program. Take my usage of socialbot by Big Mike's crew- I paid several people on Digital Point to create 10 different user accounts for my social bot program. Each profile posts a link that i give the program to a bookmark page. That's 10 profiles per link. It helps |

I understand that I can get my site indexed fast by social bookmarking. That's ok. Regarding accounts, well I have no nerves to create more than 1 account on each bookmarking site, say 30-40 sites, 1 account per site. But If I have installed automatic social bookmarking plugin that bookmarks each published post, and always under that 1 account that I have per bookmarking site, can that harm more than help? |

Kael41, we posted at the same time. So having 1 account per social bookmarking site is not enough, I must have 10 or more accounts on each site in order for this method to have considerable effect ? |

I'm not sure if i'd say it's not enough, it's all apart of the equation. Are you building backlinks to your sites using other methods? Or are you relying solely on social bookmarking? From my experience, i'd steer clear of soley relying on one method and incorporate several into your grand scheme of traffic building. What i would do is stagger your bookmarking across several pages of your site utilizing different profiles. I still have backlinks from 7 out of 10 profiles pointing back to my main index page. |

social bookmarking is a bit of a pain, but it does generate a fair amount of traffic, if it didn't work I wouldn't do it, you do have to do it right and dedicate some time to it though.

I think social bookmarking if done correctly is very useful and productive in your online marketing endeavors. Just be careful and don't spam. So I suggest you don't just bookmark your own site but bookmark other sites as well maybe a 2-1 ratio meaning every time you bookmark your own webpage you bookmark two others that are not yours.

Wow, that seems like it would take a long time to do. Could prove to be more of a pain in the butt. | |

I do think there is more to it than just digging or stumbling your own site. I know one of our aviation sites was stumbled about a year ago (legitimately, we didn't do it) and we got a few dozen hits from it. Then, about two months ago, someone else stumbled the same site and we got over 3000 uniques in two days. I suspect it depends on who does the bookmarking and how popular that person is on the site.
