EZA Expert Author's Question

Hello fellow ezine article expert authors, I have a question which has been bugging me over the last week. I have seen some articles on ezine articles recent very recent, maybe like one week old, and they already have 40,000 views+. I tried to look for keywords in those articles, but they were either very competitive keywords, or no keywords at all. So I would like to know the secret, if there is any, do you post your articles on twitter?, Facebook?, mail it to your list? What is the secret, fellow expert Authors.

Maybe they are using one of the various views enhancing techniques to get their article into the most viewed section that have become popular over the last 18 months? Still happens allot.

Easy way to get your account banned if you ask me!

I saw some like this too, but they were targeting long tail keywords that are fairly high traffic and the competition on the google top 10 was not top level domains. I don't know if they will stay there for long but they seem to be getting a good traffic boost for now. EZA carries alot of clout especially when the other domains in the top 10 are not optimized for that particular keyword and this makes the keyword optimized article more relevant and therefore rank higher.

They could be using automated software to inflate their pageviews. There is also software that automatically can turn your article into a video with one click and submit it to high ranking video directories such as YouTube.com with links back to the original article.

Interesting. Why would you send traffic to your articles? Isnt the sole purpose of article marketing to get traffic to your website, and not to the actual article itself? This is certainly one subject I am keen to get to the bottom of it, as i am an article marketer, It would be very effective for me

Artificially inflating page views makes your article rise higher in the searches at the article directories. The higher you are in the searches, the more real views and clicks your article receives.

And yes, they are using Scrapebox. They use proxies to ping their articles which makes it look like unique visitors are clicking on the article.

It's contrary to EZA's terms of service, and several Warriors have had their accounts permanently closed down for doing this.

          Absolutely right.

          This is really fundamental.

There are some people who advise others to send traffic (from backlinking and so on, all the usual forms of SEO), instead of to their own sites, to the copy of their article on EZA! They say it works for them. It's probably because they've chosen keywords so competitive that they can't rank their own site for them, and they need EZA's page-rank to be able to get traffic at all.

So what they're doing is promoting EZA's property instead of their own, and sending their traffic there to feed on all EZA's AdSense. EZA must love them (and doing that certainly isn't against the TOS, of course - it's just paid-for traffic and automated clicks that are prohibited).

There is, genuinely, a short-term gain in doing that. And a great big long-term cost, of course, because the one thing you can be sure of, if you do this, is that article directories will always outrank you for your own keywords.

However, it appeals to people who don't want to build "authority sites" and prefer to build other people's properties up for them. It also appeals to people who are doing direct-linking and don't have a site, of course, and they (in a sense) have a more reasonable argument for doing it, if you like that kind of thing. It depends whether you want quick hit-and-run sales and to keep repeating that all the time, or to build up a real business. Good luck to them all, I say - in the long run, it's less real competition for me.

Much more detailed information, explaining what a mistake this generally is, is in this fine thread: it's long, but very worthwhile reading all the way through - not only for free lessons in article marketing from some real experts, but also to see some of the traps and pitfalls that others fall into, and the short-sighted views they take without quite being aware that the people "advising" them don't always have the finest and most perceptive appreciation of the situation.
Wow alexa you really know your stuff. I have noticed that it all relies on the authority or big sites to give your articles ranking like EZA. You are absolutely right and I know what you mean by "promoting EZA property" and not their own. It is rather easier to rank on EZA for a raltively competiive keyword, then it is from you own website. So basically they are using EZA as a platform for their supposed front page of their site....WOW, that is engenuis and also lame lol. Alexa thank you very much for this brightful explanation, the only reason why this issue caught my intersts is that as a Article Marketer you get Very frustrated and annoyed if you see random articles just like a blog post if you would like, with 40,000 views in less than a week. 40,000!!, haha anyways thanks again alexa for this valuable post great Stuff

yeah definetley, but then i beg the question? even with all these efforts, the sand box and whatnot, are they fulfilling their objective of putting up the article in the firts place? i.e get ton of views?

They will not last as a 1 week old article with 40,000 views is possible only if you do the following:

    1. Rank number one for a kw like "internet" or "computers"
    2. Game the system

If the latter then they will be caught.

When you see new articles with these kinds of views then it generally screams fake traffic! A lot of marketers were able to get by doing this in the past, but ezinearticles.com is really starting to crack down on these guys.

The logic behind this method is to get in the "most viewed" section for your specific category, and then a link to your article will appear on each and every article within that category.

This can be a nice source of traffic, but you run a very real risk of having your ezinearticles.com account terminated. Simply put, there are plenty of traffic generation strategies out there than won't get you banned, so make good use of them!
