But I aint making money off it! cs-healthandfitness.com -- it seems i cant post urls just yet but this is it here It has been live for a few months now. I get on average 5-6 hits a day but have made no money from it. I have had one subscribe to my newsletter in all this time also. Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong? Am I concentrating on too many things at once? Should I be concentrating on sending possible buyers direct to the sales page and not bother with the newsletter? I have around 18 plus articles on this site at the moment, but they vary on dieting tecqniues and issues. Maybe these need to be more concentrated on what I'm trying to sell? Should I use a 'normal' website instead of a wordpress site? I'm a .net developer by day. so knocking up a website would be easy to do. Please help this newbie, determined to learn this trade! Thanks Jet set. |

What ARE you trying to sell? Or rather--what do you hope to accomplish. While I realize the end goal is to make money, sometimes it helps if you take a step back and say to yourself, "What do I specifically hope to accomplish with this website?" I assume that the articles are there to get traffic. Now think of only one thing you want your traffic to do, and make your articles point them in that direction. Hope this helps. Erice:> |

I found that some articles work better on ezine than others but they quickly die a death and the amount of traffic they generate are minimal. I think i'm losing direction. The main question is with the articles i submit to ezine and the ones i use for the website. Do they need to be targeted to desperate buyers who will be looking for these kinds of products? I find it difficult to write articles say for example for the fat loss for idiots program without finding myself repeating what I have already mentioned in previous articles. What should I be aiming for in my articles i post to the blog and to ezines? I would like to target search engine traffic also? | |

When writing your articles some of your focus should be optimizing the article for specific keywords that relate to your target market. If your market is weight loss, then do your necessary keyword research, try to find a few long tail keywords to focus on, and write your article based on that. Use services such as keywordcountry.com, wordtracker.com, keywordcompete.com, longtailadwords.com etc or tools such as Micro Niche Finder and Keyword Elite or simply use Google Keyword tool. Articles listed on EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com have a good chance of appearing in the top of search engines for some long tail keywords if optimized correctly. Ensure the basics are covered such as: Keywords In title Title Is Catchy (A good reason for me to click it) Keywords in body (not spammy) Resource Box (Good Call To Action) Do the necessary research on ezinearticles.com to find successful articles that have a lot of views and model your articles to suit. For example if your market is weight loss, then check the top authors in weight loss, see what their articles are targeting to get ideas. See: http://ezinearticles.com/?type=txcat...ss:Weight-Loss Go through each of the top authors articles, scroll to the bottom of each article and see how many views each article has had, and if it has received quite a few views, then more than likely it's appearing high for a keyword in the search engines. It's all about research, testing, and analyzing what works with your competition and modelling their success. |

keep doing what you are doing, its not that you are doing anything wrong, you just need more articles start using videos hang out in forums related to your niche and answer their questions, it takes a daily constant effort to succeed the more you have out there the more results you will see.

OK - My 2c worth. Your title is Health and Fitness. I was expecting a site about fitness methods: cycling, gym, home exercises, videos etc. Then perhaps healthy eating tips and vitamin supplements. Then I scroll down and find it is a selection of diets for losing weight, not specifically for health. Then I look at the articles bottom right and I've strayed into medical articles about a selection of random topics. At the start you say to use the search box to find what I want, but there is no indication of what the site even contains. Sorry - don't mean to be brutal, but I guess I'm saying it's a bit unfocused. Either focus in on a specific topic, or include a menu bar taking me to specific sub topics. |

Thanks for all your comments so far...... Yes, its obvious when people point out whats wrong with this site. I dont mind brutal, as long as its constructive!! Some very good points made by rosetrees. All of these hints and tips will help me hopefully generate some profit soon! What do people think about using wordpress as the template for this kind of website? Is it the best approach or is creating a site from scratch better? In my opinion using wordpress is best, even though its php based (I'm a .net developer by day!) wordpress gives you seo and all the other usefull plugins ready to use. keep the tips coming! |
