Do people actually use social buttons seen on blog posts, articles, etc.?

You know the buttons I'm talking about...

"Did you enjoy this article? Share it on your favorite social sites:"

And then buttons for facebook, twitter, digg, etc.

In your experience, do users actually use those buttons?

    Yes.

IF you establish a quality, longterm, relationship with them by continually providing content that is of value. If you are 'known' to your readers as a credible and trustworthy source, there are ways that you can actually subtly 'train' them to do these things, as well....

If you are constantly providing high quality information, you may even want to just consider asking them to do it.....most will if you aren't giving the appearance that you just constantly want to profit and sell to them....

Lot of authors use them on our article directory after submitting the articles as it is most easiest way send the link out and readers seems to use them as well. Personally I do use them quite a lot.

I use them mostly on things that make me laugh. Most of my friends and family are not in the same lines of work as me so sending them articles on how to promote a site or how to clean up green screen work in after effects won't interest them much.

But if you send me a link to a video of a guy falling off a jetski midair, I'm sending that to my little facebook animals guaranteed!!
