YOU probably kill YOUR cash cow too early...
Made a website similar to a membership/forum site. Free to all to join (I missed what niche it was)
He paid $199 for a bulk email with a press release of the website to go out to select newspaper writers in the US
He watched his membership grow from 105 members to 3400 members within a few weeks.
He sold solo ads BUT offered a deep discount for ad swaps of ANY size THEN offered ad swaps to list of a similar size to his
He watched his membership grow from 3400 to 16000 in less than 2 months.
He messaged his members affiliate offers from time to time and invited all his members to join a PREMIUM list that would only contain freebies (which were actually free items that lead to sales that lead to him getting commissions)
Over the course of 5 months he had over 21000 members and oddly 22500 PREMIUM subscribers.
He made money renting adspace on the website, mailing his PREMIUM list "freebies" and creating his own product to market to his members and subscribers.
Now he wouldn't tell me in total how much he's made so far, but he informed me to never, never, kill the cash cow too early!
P.S. I called him later to get the numbers as accurately as possible as far as memberships were concerned and for permission to share his story. When asked to share the site he mentioned to me it may not be a good idea. Why? Because this guy is actually in the process of selling it. He won't tell me the best offer he's gotten yet, but he assures me it would certainly pay for that new 3 series (BMW) I've been wanting.
