Ive noticed something. I have a site where I sell a clickbank diet product and I make about 100 sales per month. Out of that 100 I have about a 1-3% refund rate. Last month I got another site up and running selling a product for the IM niche off clickbank. I have almost double the refunds. And the weird thing is it think the IM product is a MUCH better product. I am using almost the exact same marketing method too. Does anyone else notice this? I was thinking maybe because people in the IM niche know they can just buy and get refunds and keep the product. |

That's what they say... But there are things you can do to decrease your refund rate. Put a couple unadvertised secret bonuses on your download page. Do an extra 10% and you'll likely see a decrease in your refund rate. |

I agree with this man. If you want to get less refunds, give people more value. I am personally pretty slack when it comes to asking for a refund but when I think about it, there are products I have bought that have been absolute junk, whereas other products have honestly blown me away and given me genuine value. Plus, there are a lot of big hitters in the IM niche so you have to give value at least as much as the big hitters. I haven't personally tested refund rates compared to other niches so obviously this is just an opinion, but hopefully it will be of value

i am also slowly fed up with the many re-hashes in the IM niche. I can tell you that 80% of the products do NOT tell any experienced marketer ANYTHING new. It sucks if you spend a lot of money and get some BASIC essentials about adwords and how to research niches. Quality and Innovation == Key, not always the same old stuff. |

The IM niche is kind of a silly place to work in my opinion. Everybody wants to get something for nothing, they ask for more refunds and try to steal your downloads and there are so many people offering value in it. Go after something else where people aren't used to paying $7 for something and expect $1000 in free bonuses and then ask for refunds anyhow. Lot's of niches you can offer value and charge much more money.

People act surprised that info is "rehashed" - but the fact is there isn't much that is totally new in IM. Until there is another major new development such as web 2.0 or the rise of videos, rehashing is the name of the game. The same methods work now that worked the past 2-3 years with minor adjustments. The winning products are those who put together info in a way that makes YOU understand how to do it. There are more refunds in the "make money" area because many of those people are on forums that talk about refunds. Also, the nature of the products which promise fast money, easy techniques, etc leads to disappointment. It's part of working in the IM niche - and you just need to add more quality and plan well to limit refunds as much as you can. kay |

The IM niche is the only market where the customers know - a. How to use their own affiliate link to get a "discount", and b. That they can get the product for free just by requesting a refund. In my opinion, if you have an IM-related product on Clickbank and keep your refund rate below 4-5%, you have really done something. Being a publisher has been a VERY eye-opening experience. Just my two cents.... Jennifer ~PotPieGirl |

The reason many newbies come into IM is to make money. It's likely because they don't have much money to begin with. So what they do? Take advantage of free knowledge by getting refunds. Hey it's not a crime. And somehow this virus of 'refunds guarantees more sales' got spread and everyone is doing it. I would probably make a guess that at least 1 out 3 people has refunded products not because the product is poor, they just love the feeling of the money being returned. And probably 1 out of 10 customers in the IM niche are serial refunders. Just making some ballpark guesses. Allen |

The numbers are no where near that high. My stats say less than 1/100 are serial refunders in the IM niche. Much much lower in all other niches.

There are a lot of those people out there that just want a free product but as it's been previously mentioned, offer them more value for their money and your refund rate should decrease. hope it works |
