PayDotCom 2.0 – Move over ClickBank

I'm gunna launch my new Kung Fu Book on PayDotCom.com

I am new to them and want to find out about order processing, credit cards etc.

Apparently they are planning a major upgrade but this post is all I can find.

looks good anyway

I wouldn't use PDC it's clunky and difficult to use, plus your paying out twice, paypal & PCD

You'd be much better using Clickbank IMHO anyway

Yes but I see many complaints about both. In fact most threads whining about paydotcom end up agreeing that clickbank is even worse.

I'm gunna try paydotcom & add clickbank later

but I do understand what you are saying. Its free and quick - thats what I need right now.

We will have to see and a buyer can easily dispute a sale with paypal. It is sometimes difficult to outdo the leaders so with CB you have a bigger affiliate base which is going to be difficult to overcome. I like the auto payment bit but that shift the responcibility on me as that funds can be reversed just as fast which you could endup with bigger problems as paypal like limiting accounts

Agreed the buyer has the advantage. So what about credit cards anyway ?

I'm looking forward to this upgrade as well. They seem to have been listening to the marketplace and are addressing a lot of the issues that people are complaining about. In comparison, it took Clickbank many many years to add new functionality like improved reporting, etc.

Overall, the fees are still less than Clickbank and I find it fairly easy to use. With these new changes, their marketplace will dramatically increase in value IMHO.

The problem with pay dot com is that the vendor is responsible for paying out comission. And somethimes they will not do that.

I stopped using paydotcom after I had more than a $ 100 locked into the system, and no replies on my emails to vendor.

With the new upgrade, that will no longer be a problem because the customers payment will be split with the affiliate and paid when the sale is made. From the blog post at PayDotCom 2.0 - Move over ClickBank :

"We will now guarantee payments INSTANTLY to affiliates using PayPal's new adaptive payments - Chained Payments.

The customer experience will be the same. The vendors will still receive the money.

But, INSTANTLY the vendor will send the commission to the affiliate from in the background. PayPal's API allows the chain to happen instantly. If there is a refund, it is pulled back from the Affiliate."

Ron, you have to put yourself in the Affiliate shoe's to understand how the current PDC system is un-user friendly.

If a potential affiliate hears about your product and lands on the PDC website and attempts to search for most products, it's like pulling teeth.

Using the search function, forget about it.

You should be able to type in the vendor's name, product name or trigger keywords to find a product; that's called being user friendly. In the PDC system, you can type in all three search functions and find NADA on a product that you know is in their database.

      The solution?

A potential affiliate must wade through the database.

That's my biggest issue but there are others.

That is a HUGE issue for affiliates!

It's hard to say how many affiliates have gotten burned using this type of system. But suffice it to say, it would be in the best interest for PDC to flip that script.

The only thing is, Mike has started Pay People Online which serves as a commission payment facilitator primarily between vendors and affiliates and the likely hood of him merging PPO and PDC is pretty slim.

Although, if he did, it would solve the affiliate payment issue concerns, IMMEDIATELY as long as he set the system up to run in a fashion similar to Clickbank.

    Guys

For us to go 2.0 We really wanted to kill it. It is going to be an all new site inside and out. We are going to take over marketer share big. We are even going to start to take payments like clickbank a few months after 2.0

As we started to do this, we decided to go even bigger. We hired more people on the team.

I can honestly say it was a smart move to slow down going live with 2.0 to add even more stuff

But we want to communicate this well too. So we are going to market the benefits
    very well.

I am too excited to even type about it right now.

You read the blog post. But just imagine
Vendor profiles - in the marketplace
SEO strategy for the marketplace with social aspects for consumer created content
    Facebook integration on signup
    New interface and reporting
We will handale ALL 1099 so no more paying your affiliates. We will do it for you ala CB

And then we will add the non paypal option where they pay us like CB has it.

Well, so it was my call to delay it. And there is SO MUCH on the new PDC I can really
say that we are going to eat the market share so the others will not know what hit
them b/c we are giving you what you want.

    Lower refunds
    Guaranteed affiliate payments
    Instant Affiliate Payments
    We do 1099
    Not locked down to paypal

    Better reporting.

Soon, it will be known as default.. "I am adding my product to paydotcom"

That requires a 2.0 strategy and it has to be done right. With a whole new site and USP

I really need to to this right. So I am taking my time on it.

Bold statements. But when you know what is wrong with the others and you listen
to what people want, you can invent it.

And then.. when the vendors move there so will the affiliates.

Look, myspace looked like it could not be knocked off. Same for yahoo and Microsoft

And then when it was re-thought from the ground up things moved in a new
    direction fast.

We deal with word of mouth and all that. So if can make this work, my BHAG
    can become a reality

I need to make YOU GUYS happy first.

Sorry if I had to push it off. It was for the right reasons!

I have used both and PayDotCom was cheaper. Cheaper commissions, free to start selling. Perhaps clickbank has more affiliates but maybe with v2.0 paydotcom will start to rule the roost! Plus, clunky?! Not at all in my opinion.

    Mike

Thank you so much for updating us on the progress being made with PayDotCom 2.0, I'm sure that I speak for many Warriors in saying that we are excited to see a viable alternative to ClickBank.

Will PayDotCom 2.0 also feature an API similar to ClickBanks, or a notification service similar to ClickBanks Instant Notification Service or PayPal's IPN system? And if so would you also be providing a "sandbox" service similar to PayPal's where developers can test and perfect their code before going live with it?

    Looking forward to the release!

    Bill
