What kind of work are you looking to outsource? You don't need to hire local, depending on what you are having done.

You should consider getting your own dedicated employee working overseas, or build a team.

This is a very general statement/question.
You'll achieve better results if you do the opposite of that.
You should be as specific as possible. Then qualified people can reply and help you.

I have sold outsourced services to UK for several years and it is a bit of a nightmare.

Biggest pitfalls are making sure you have someone trustworty managing the team and avoiding all the legal pitfalls. Transfer pricing comes into play when you register a UK company and a company offshore. Consultants specialising in transfer pricing want £1k+ just to say hello so I had to do it all the hard way by reading through hundreds of pages of info from inland revenue, but even then knew I could be challenged any time on it.

Easiest way to get started is to find a company overseas offering white labelling. It will cost you more in labour but overall will be easier and you won't have as much setup costs.

Most companies however try to trap you into an hourly rate, so if you are working to a UK client on fixed price and paying hourly rate to them, they can suddenly become very slow at doing the work as they want to drag it out. Also even working on fixed price, a lot of overseas companies will just stop work and demand more money to continue, even if you have a contract in place.

In short, it sounds like a great game, big markups, lots of work out there etc.. In reality there are many hard lessons to learn. Don't jump in with both feet. Most people who do well at it usually have a relative or trustworthy business partner fly out to manage overseas team.

If you plan to outsource, the best way to do it would be hiring overseas since it's affordable plus you can have more chances to hire more staff and utilize on all your business needs as this opportunity actually allows you to pay only around $300-$500 per month. Having said that, I recommend hiring someone from the Philippines using Best Jobs Philippines :: Philippine job search, job bank, employment and recruitment

    Good luck!

I've been disappointed in the past when hiring from Philippines.

Are you related to this site - or have you just had a good experience using it?

@Andy: No, I'm not related to this website and have just been fortunate getting to work around these people from Bestjobs. Well, it may or may not work for anybody because it would still depend upon the right choices and may also be the timing when the right people come along. I've heard both good and bad things though but I'm just basing on what I've experienced.

If you will get someone from the Philippines make sure you lay down the law in terms of what you want done, when you expect them to be done etc.

It's better to be detailed than to be sorry and you may still be sorry after. As with any outsourcing you take the risk of going through a lot before you eventually find the one that can make your team.

Filipinos for the most part are hard working and do their best to do what is needed but, like anywhere else, there will always be bad apples and I assume Andy, unfortunately, dealt with them.

I feel bad that there are those of my countrymen who think that this is merely a way to get easy money.

That being said, many of us do see it as a legit thing it's just that some probably just took on more than they can handle or have the capability for.

The mind is willing but it's all enthusiasm and nothing to back it up.

Some issues that can come up. Even if we do speak and understand English, many of us still go through the process of translating it in our head. So while we know what you may be instructing us, understanding it may be something else all together.

As that movie goes, it's all lost in the translation.

Some do have real life issues. Water is being rationed right now in the capital of manila and power outages is still rampant. And now that typhoon season has come, expect more disconnection from service should a bad one hit, or even if it doesn't hit.

So if you will get from the Phil as some have recommended here, start with small projects first so you are able to see the level of competence of the person you're dealing with. That way if it falls apart you don't get bit big time.

    Good luck

    Good advice.

All of my people right now are from the UK or India.

I don't doubt that you can do well elsewhere but I can only speak from experience and like to also validate that someone else's recommendation is based on experience rather than something they heard or somewhere they're involved with.

If it is web development that you need, I am from Liverpool in the UK (don't hold that against me haha) and would be happy to offer my services to you.

I'm guessing you have had bad experiences or know someone who has about outsourcing to other countries.

Anyway, send me an email to the address in signature if you have any questions.

  • Hmmm...

I recommend outsourcing these tasks locally if you're targeting local markets:

    1) copywriting;

    2) graphics design for logos, banners, ebook/report covers and landing/sales/squeeze pages; and

    3) client/customer relations and client/customer support management.

    Why?

Because you need people who can relate to the cultural nuances and relevant client/customer habits of your local markets along with real time changes.

For everything else, outsourcing overseas can help you grow and expand your business faster -- lower overheads and higher profits.

As for outsourcing to the Philippines, there are no absolute guarantees that it will work for you. This holds true no matter where you outsource. Even if you outsource in your own country, there is still a chance of failure if you end up hiring the wrong people.

Geography has little to do with outsourcing. It would ultimately depend on who you hire.

Outsourcing to the Philippines is very popular because there are a lot of Filipino online professionals who are very good at what they do. Plus, most Filipinos have very good work ethics and the rates are cheaper than those of freelancers in other more developed countries. Of course, like Cezar above mentioned, there will always be bad apples in the bunch.

Successful outsourcing also relies a lot on the hiring process and choosing the right candidate for the job. You need to invest time and effort in the initial hiring process to up your chances of getting a qualified worker for the job you are trying to outsource. The more meticulous you are in choosing the right worker, the higher your chances of successfully weeding out the bad from the good.

If you don't have the time to undergo an extensive evaluation and hiring process or you don't know where to begin, you can hire someone to do help you choose the right worker. We now have a service called EasyHire where we aim to simplify outsourcing and ease the burden of the recruitment process. Just visit the link above to find out more about this service.

    I hope this helps.

    Holla,

Pointing out UK for your outsourcing needs will be a good turn in the present.
One can find a lot of opportunities & offers in services like KPO, content moderation, profile validation, email support, voice support etc.

When it comes to LPO, there are fewer offers from the area as it is in executory stage & enterprise cannot take high risks on it. Many legal firms are coming up in this field with new arears of knowledge.

IS there a reason why it has to be UK? I'm from the UK but I tend to outsource my articles to US based writing teams and backlinks generally go to the Phillipines or India.

Why pay more when you can get the same quality for less?

PM me with more details and I'll put you in touch with some people if you like.
