I just did a search for the following domain: microsoft-info.com. This domain name is available. If I register this domain and NEVER use it (to build a website, blog, or for email), can Microsoft demand that I "give" them this domain name? Shouldn't I be able to sell this domain name to Microsoft? I know that I cannot build a website or a blog based on this domain name, but if I never intend on using this domain, can't I simply own this domain OR ask Microsoft to pay for it if they want it?

If you don't use it - they won't care if you keep paying for it - if you use it, good luck.

MS doesn't need to register every possible domain that could use their name - because they can shut down anyone else trying to use those domains. Yes, there are exceptions - but I doubt any would cover this example.

Offer to sell it to Microsoft? Good luck with that. You could register everything from microsoft-a.com to microsoft-z.net and get rich....NOT.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

You can only profit from the domain if you bought it before they have trademark or establish their company. At least that was how someone sold apple.com to apple for over a few million.

But other than that, forget about it. This method is impossible for you to make money in the current moment.

Microsoft will not pay you a dime for the domain and by offering it to them, MS has proof in a WIPO/UDRP claim that you registered in bad faith, meaning that you registered to profit from their trademark. Don't give yourself any more headaches than you actually need and this would be a big one.

Microsoft is very protective of their trademark and brand. Big businesses like that have their own legal team so personally I wouldn't come close to messing with their trademark.

Read up on mikerowsoft and how microsoft pursued the domain regardless it was a name of a person.
