I have a Yahoo Store and use Paypal Pro as the merchant. I've been pleased with both companies.

Use Magento - it's brilliant if you are serious about your business.

I have used and done 30 day trials
      on lots of them.

It really does come down to what you are trying to do.

I just set up a ProStores store for a client.

I like it a lot, pretty easy to use. It has some nice
      features.

I have used many of the open source ecommece
products. They are not "free" because the time you spend
      figuring them out is costly.

I think the problem with them is there are just to many
cooks in the kitchen. So all of the addons make them
harder to work with. Then many of the addons are not updated
as the software is so they don't work. There also seems to be a lot
of security problems with open source stuff.
