E-mail help needed...
Ok, I'm a little confused and I'd appreciate any tips you have for me.
First, a little background:
I'm in the process of switching Web hosts. Previously, I always accessed my e-mail through Squirrel Mail in my cPanel. I almost never download anything to Outlook, preferring to keep everything on the Web so that I can access it at any time from any computer. (I also receive a TON of spam and don't want to be downloading it to my hard drive.)
I created just one e-mail account in my cPanel and had all e-mail from different aliases/domains forwarded to that one address. The nice thing was that I could create a little profile with any alias and choose which alias appeared in the "From" field of my e-mail message. Since I have three different domains (and just three different aliases) that I'm working with right now, it just made it very easy to keep all of my e-mail organized.
Now, my Web designer/webmaster has set me up with Google Apps, which apparently allows me to send and receive e-mail from Gmail, but it looks like it came from my domain.
That's way cool since I want to keep my e-mail web-based. I'll also be hiring virtual assistants soon and need to be able to turn e-mail checking and sending over to them.
Now my two-part question:
1. I'd like to be able to forward e-mail coming in to Alias@Domain2.com to Alias@Domain1.com. I SHOULD be able to do this (I think), but when I sent a test message to Alias@Domain2.com, I didn't see a copy forwarded to Alias@Domain1.com.
Does anyone know what the problem might be????
As far as I can tell, to forward mail from Alias@Domain2.com to Alias@Domain1.com, I need to
1. Click on "Settings" in the upper right-hand corner when logged into the Alias@Domain2.com Gmail account.
2. Click on "Forwarding and POP/IMAP"
3. Type in the Alias@Domain1.com address I'd like the mail forwarded to.
I did this, but when I sent a test message, it didn' t forward a copy. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, but it certainly seems simple enough, so I'm not sure what the problem could be.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
This is a relatively minor glitch since I usually only give people one email address. But I recently started giving people the Domain2.com email address, so it's a little aggravating.
Thanks for your help!
