Best Place To Get Banners Made?

Hi

With the rise of traffic courses all revealing that banner advertising is far from dead where would be the best place to find a designer who specialises in creating banners?

To get a complete set of banners that are the popular sizes would i expect to pay the same as a minisite?

Thanks

I'm trying these guys out at the moment having them design me a mascot for my games site.
The mock-ups were great but not quite what I wanted so they are revising.
This was partly my fault as I was not quite clear in what I was looking for.

Once they get this done I believe I will turn over the design of several of my sites for them to do.
Communication is great and Joe seems to care, which says a lot in itself.

    Hey Andrew,

Just because your name is Andrew, if you shoot me an idea of what you want and sizes, i'll see what I can do - no cost to you.

I have photoshop CS4 (Mac) and i'm pretty good at it; however, they will just be static as I have no idea how to do flash banners and the sort.

I like using XHeader. I found it had a learning curve
to begin with. I figured it out. I love it.

Nobody clicks on those designed banners, you should make your own. Download GIMP and spend a few hours to figure out how it works, and you are set for life.

Imagine, you get banners created for about $50 or so and then you will have an idea for new campaign. Once again, you will need to pay. Why you want to spend money so much?

Thanks for the links folks, they look great, just what I was after.

@PeterGarety I would rather pay a professional to get my idea done properly in a timely fashion than spend hours of my own time swearing at the crappy gimp software, and ending up with something that no-one will click as it's obviously homemade.

Just think, when was the last time you saw any of the respected people in the IM field do a launch with crappy graphics?

Of course, if you need banners for product launch, in order to show JVs that you have everything set for them, then for sure.

Also, regarding the clicks, in last 4 days I got 1767 clicks with banners, which I made in less than two hours. I have tested different kind of banners last two months and those which I made myself got 10 times more clicks than others.

Let me know, when you launch your product, I would like to take a look.

Here's an important point to note concerning these two comments...

As to the suggestions of creating your own banners, that's really a personal thing related to an individual's skill sets, training and giftings.

I for one, would never burn my valuable time downloading GIMP or any other graphic program for that matter.

Why not? Because I suck at graphics.

      Period and end of story.

You say it's easy? Yeah, easy for you!

Any suggestions for me to do so are always met with... hahahah yeah right?

      */sarcasm, hint, hint.

That said, some people can take Xheader, GIMP, etc., and make Picasso look like a third year graphics design student.

Others, [like me] use such products and can only produce graphic mush.

I said that to say this; know your limitations and don't waste your time in areas you clearly are not meant to be in.

I know graphics is not my cup of tea; therefore I leave the design stuff to the graphics gurus.

P.S. I've been using 20 Dollar Banners for close to ten years and they have never failed me ever.

If you are clear in what you are looking for and go through their examples to find similar banners you can point the designer to, you will always be extremely happy with your completed banners.

I've used Logonerds for about a dozen headers and those guy and gals rock also!

Free is not always the best option when you intend on putting your best foot forward.

You make some great points Crew Chief. I am the same way. I can do the technical stuff to make logos, banners etc but they are never very good. I made one logo that turned out great but it was almost by accident.

I used to put graphics on cars and vans back in the day when that was more popular. I was very good at the application but terrible at the design and creativity part of it. My partner would come over and say something like: why don't you change this color to this, make this stripe a little wider, take this part out and flare this end. In a couple minutes he could take someting that was decent and turn it into WOW!!!! After awhile we saved time and he would just tell me what to do right from the start.

IM should be viewed by most as a business and not just a hobby. Trying to save money to make a banner may sound good but what if it doesn't attract any clicks? Have we really saved money or have we lost customers? You have only split seconds to entice a surfer to click your ad.

There are some great banners made by individuals that have never done it before. There are also some banners that the creator THINKS is great but that gets no results. I am just saying that because with new technology it is very easy for a newbie to make a banner doesn't mean they should.

Sorry for the rant. I know some need to save money or just like learning new things so good for you.

Just one more point about the OP. I am not so sure about the benefits of banner advertising. It is certainly not dead but it is not very cost effective for most niches from my testing. A lot depends on what you are marketing and where your banners will be shown. Wish you success.
