I have a very large collection of PLR content that I'm trying to decide what to do with. I have a couple of ideas...the main one being creating my own PLR site and selling niche sets.

Would this be worth the effort? I actually have no problem re-writing the content I have for uniqueness; in fact, I've already used some of them as research for other articles and others have given me really good topic ideas.

Ultimately, I don't want to just sit on these PLR articles. I'd like to be able to do something with them and, based on what I have tried in the past, a PLR site seems like the best idea for me right now.

Have you guys had any experience doing this? Any tips or advice you might have on pursuing this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

PLR's have some great value but I wouldn't use them as a stand along business model. Just my opionion. I am not a great copy writer, but a pretty good marketer. So I use PLR's to help me out with what I do not do so well.

One thing to consider is whether rewriting existing PLR and selling it really provides a valuable service to your customers - some of them might already have the same PLR content you have. Even if you rewrite yours to be more original, it's still the same material.

Also, be careful because some of that content likely has restrictions that prevent you from selling private label rights and other rights. Changing just a few words or sentences isn't enough - you'd have to recreate the content into brand new material in order to sell PLR to it.

PLR sites can definitely be lucrative! But you'll be much more successful if you are offering something that your customers can't get anywhere else, and something they will see real value in.

      Hope that helps!

Instead of only selling the "content". You might want to package your niche sets into a "package". IMO, a complete pac increases the value of your PLR. You can offer a pac which comes with content, graphics, landing page etc. Depending on how you want to package it.

Thanks all! I really appreciate the input.

Really the idea behind this is that I'm not very good at marketing and find it difficult to find an area that hasn't already been done 100 times over, so I wondered if using the content to create a niche site was really the best way to go for me.

Possibly selling material that a lot of people already have is a concern. I can rewrite them, add some extra content, and my own spin. I just often wonder if that would be enough. I do want to sell something useful; I always assumed that was the most profitable way to go. I'm still hesitant to just delete them though because, as I said, they have been useful in the past.

If I do take this route, I know it won't be immediate profit (not that I'm looking for internet riches right now anyway ), but I figured it might be easier to market by selling packs on forums and eBay. That way I could get word out about the site, so to speak, rather than relying on typical internet marketing methods that I don't seem to have an affinity for (at least not yet).

Another option I was thinking of is combining a niche into an ebook and using something like ClickBank to pay others to sell it. Has anyone had success with this?

Verena, are you referring to selling a batch? Like five niches with 10 articles each? That a good possibility too. A lot of the niches in my PLR are related...so a package set would be doable.

I mean getting a sales page/landing page template (Google it and you should be able to find some free one) and put your "content" up there, selling it as a "ready-made" template. That should raise the perceive value and easier to sell. Now people are buying a "ready-to-go" template which they can just ftp to their site and start promoting it to whatever niche your content offers.

Listing on Clickbank doesn't seem like a good idea to me, the competition is tough out there on CB. And PLR content pac is pretty generic to a lot of the affiliate marketers out there. So, not easy. Anyway, that's me, you don't have to take my word to T.

You could rewrite articles and create simple but unique sites and sell them on Flippa. All you need is 10-20 pages wordpress websites. Monetize it through adsense and clickbank. Now just put it on sale on Flippa. If you want to earn more money... keep the site for a while and get some traffic and some revenue. You will sell it for much more.

    I agree with Wendy.

The thing with PLR is that you want people to keep coming back and I think the best way to do that is to have unique stuff that they can't get anywhere else.

Rewriting existing PLR might actually do you more harm than good. I know if I bought PLR from someone and found out it was just a rewrite of what I already had I'd be pretty mad. And if you are marketing in forums then word can get around pretty quick.

Also, most of the good stuff does have restrictions that you cannot just resell it, even if you rewrite so you could be in for legal trouble.

If you really want to make a business selling PLR, then it's not that hard to write the articles or hire a writer. It will be well worth it in the end to be able to offer something unique that no one else has.

The thing is though, you are going to have to do some marketing and it takes a while to build up a base of customers before you make any money. Just like with anything else it is a lot of work up front to reap rewards later on.
