I have tried Filezilla ... didn´t really like it though.

I use Core FTP Lite, works like a charm.

Make sure your server is setup to accept the ftp info your trying to loggin with also. Cpanel doesn't always use the same password for the default ftp as the cpanel login... Sometimes there isn't even default ftp account and you need to create one.

Thank you for your information. Regarding the user name and password, is it the same with the one I use in logging in to my host site?

It depends on your host. Do you have cpanel on your webhost?

When you host your domain on a server the hosting company will send you an email with your FTP user name and Password, these are the information you will put there.
for example if your website is www tibbytot com the might send the username as tibbytot and some pwd
so you can enter it like this below

Host:tibbytot com username :tibbytot Password: wx45hd

If you can't sort out your problem (although I hope that you do) then have a look at other FTP options.

I agree with one of the posts in the thred, even if it and this might be a tad off topic.

I have tried Filezilla ... didn´t really like it though.

Core FTP Lite is free, easy to use and it is the King. I've used it without any problems for many years.

      Just my thoughts,

      Jeff.

Instead of using a FTP program like Filezilla, if you have a cpanel on your hosting account. (Its very unlikely that you will not). Then you can use the file transfer options on that.

Quite often they are easier to use than the FTP programs.

Check your information to see if it's typed correctly.
The error 530 means that the server you connect it's very bad and you can tell the administrator to install a better server, or you could try to create a Site Manager entry for that server, on the transfer settings tab and reduce the number of simultaneous connections to 1 or try to connect with a different software, like the native Windows FTP program and see if it works.
