Product I'm promoting - website is down.

Just as I find a product thats been working for me, making a few sales a week, the website goes down.

"403 Forbidden - You don't have permission to access / on this server."

Is there a problem with his server or something? Maybe just updating??

I think the owner has delete the file, if it has 403 forbidden, but who knows? maybe he just updating his site, you can wait for few days, if it still the same then it' time to move on and find other products to promote

He could be just updating or maybe he forgot to pay his hosting bill?

That's one of the problems with affiliate marketing, you never know when the product may not be available. I've had that happen to me many times over the years where they just stopped the affiliate program or went out of business. It's a bummer when you have put a lot of time into it.

Maybe you can alter your campaign to promote another related product?

I've been trying to find another product that relates, but nothing really does.

I really hope this is an update, because I was so close to hitting the jackpot. I've been making around 2-3 sales per week ($60-$90) for just over a month now, and thats from being ranked #14 of Google. I don't know if it's my landing page, or the product or both, but I'm converting customers.

The keyword I'm ranking for gets searched 19,000 [exact] per month, and the competition is easy to out rank. I could easily make the top 5.

Would be just my luck if somethings up with this guys site.

Well, you could always use this as an opportunity to make your own product (if it's an info product) and get affiliates selling for you!

If there are no other products and you've already proven that people buy it, this could really be a good opportunity.

Usually when they don't pay there hosting bill, the file will say account suspended, or no files would show, and you would get a 404 error.

403 means that there is a files permission errors, I usually get this when I set up a new website, because my file permissions are set to be non-viewable by public, by default. What he needs to do is fix the file permissions.

Is every page of the site down (or do you even know of other pages)?

    Caleb

P.S. You should probably e-mail the product owner.

Yeah I tried 3 of his pages, all of them are down.

I've emailed him this morning, hopefully he can sort it out.

His whole folder permissions are set wrong. He needs to give the 'public' part proper permissions for 'world' access. Otherwise, all of his files have been removed and your getting that message, because this website does not have "folder" view enabled.

What I mean by that is, seeing whats inside the folders from a directory type view in your browser.

This is why listbuilding is so important.

It would be easy to send a letter out to the list saying "the servers were overloaded, please hang tight so you can get the product" or something similar.

Nothing like sending traffic to a site that is down.

I actually had this particular issue where the site was bombarded, went down several times, and forced me to get an optin on my site quickly so I could direct traffic back to the offer when it was back online.

Especially if you are doing PPC - if you are PPC and directing traffic from your site directly to the offer you will be wasting money and traffic when the main site goes down for some reason.
