There once was a Guru, and he was one of the richest (if not the richest) man in town. He lived in a big mansion, and people in town knew him and respected him because of his indredible wealth. (Some were jealous too, of course.)

However, he became a little greedy, or maybe it was boredom - anyway he decided he wanted to have even more money, so he started thinking and pondering, for some days and nights, how he could increase his wealth even more.

He came up with a plan.

He decided to throw money out the window - and i mean that in a literal sense, no kidding!

He put up a big one-page ad in the paper a day before the "event", announcing
"I, Mr. [his name] announce hereby that i will
throw my money out the window,
tomorrow at 12:00am.
Right under my mansion's balcony at Bourbon Str. 50
Everyone is invited".

He went to his bank and exchanged a huge amount of his fortune into shiny new bills, and he filled bags with the bills, in preparation for the big "out the window" event.
(Believe me, it was MANY bags with MANY nice shiny dollar bills, $10, $100, well you get the idea)

On the next day, the day of the event he opened his windows, stepped on the balcony and faced thousands and thousands of people, cheering and yelling.
Most of them were screaming in awe, some didn't believe he would do it, many called him insane, some were swearing at him.
It was a big chaos. Press was there, TV was there.
He started opening the bags,
and really, he threw out hundreds of thousands of bills, right onto the crowd!
The crowd almost exploded, everyone ran to grab the money, cameras flashed and people screamed.
The sky was filled with white bills, it was almost impossible to see very far, it was bills flying all over.
(It is still debated HOW much he actually threw away that day, some say $100.000, others say it must have been a million or even more)

Anyway, so it happened that the media were literally going crazy over this event. How can it be that a man, in this time, just throws away his money? Some thought him the next messiah, some thought he was insane.

He was booked on any show, Oprah, Nancy, Larry, you name it.

No one has even seen such an event (maybe in movies, all right..but in reality?) the people were still in awe - and the news and media were all over him.

So..on the tv shows and in the countless interviews he mentioned that he had a website, let's call it moneyoutthewindow.com where he'd announce the next time when he'd throw money out the window again.

People should keep checking his web site so they know when to be there, and not to miss hundreds of thousands of dollars flying out the window when it happens next time!

Talk show hosts paid him lots of money to be on their show - so it happened that he actually made back all the money he threw out the window - TWICE, just from the shows he was on after the "event" and from people who paid him to be in commercials and similar things.

In addition, he is now making about $50k a month fom AdSense income and other ads on his site - since thousands of people are daily checking his web site to check when the next event would be.

He sold his mansion, and moved in a bigger one

    Great story GeorgR.

The hero of that story definitely excercised definiteness of purpose and put his money to work for him.

Giving with a specific intent almost always opens the door for receiving.

Not giving to get with strings attached or solely for the purpose of receiving,

but giving with a specific purpose.

The great part is despite the fact that the story depicts him as giving only for the purpose of receiving,

that when he gave all that money, people who needed it benefitted from it.

That would be pandemonium and create quite a stir.

This reminds me of the group Ross Perot formed, supposedly to raise money to help the Vietnam war, which he supported, and made donations to. I found the following on Google.

      ************************************************** ****
One thing he did deliver on was money for a different publicity campaign supporting the Vietnam War, in November 1969. The campaign was timed to follow Nixon's "Vietnamization" speech on November 3rd, and create the impression of a spontaneous wave of public support. Perot paid for a big newspaper campaign and a TV special starring astronaut Frank Borman. Nixon aides William Safire and Alexander Butterfield edited the scripts that Perot's team wrote. Perot created an organization to collect contributions and build a mailing list: he called it "United We Stand.
      ************************************************** *****

He asked that everyone in American send a minimum of $1.00 to join his cause. Nineteen million people joined.

Deceptive marketing strategies are implemented every day.

Thanks for an interesting story. There's a VERY powerful marketing lesson hidden within it. I'm wondering how many people caught this.

        Best regards,
        Ken

        I like it.

        Might give it a go.
I will pop down the bank tomorrow and
get £20 in 1pence pieces and see if I
get a crowd of hungry people who want
        my money.

I will then implement the rest of the plan.

    Nice GeorgR,

But tell me, is it a story, or a plan?
