Emails: Double opt-in question

I don't have an auto responder service yet but have some quick question about double opt-ins.

Whether its aweber, getresponse or the smaller players,.. will my stats allow me to see all pending opt-in confirmations? (not the actual email addresses but the number of people still waiting to confirm).

Is there some sort of "expiry date" before that double opt-in link becomes inactive and removed from my stats?

If a prospect types a fake email address, do I manually delete it, or is it automatically removed?

I use aweber and you can see how many people actually confirm. I think I average about 80% confirmation. Meaning 80% of the people who fill in the form actually click the confirmation link in their email address.

As far as how long until they expire I dont know to be honest, I think they stay forever but do not count towards your number of subscribers. Would need confirmation of this one though

    Hope that helps

I think every service is different so I don't know. By the way you can use MailChimp for free as long as you have under 500 subscribers so it is a great place to start with email marketing.
