I Want To Be A Billionaire So Freakin' Bad

Hello everyone,

As I was driving to work today, Travie McCoy's song came on, and my mind carried me away on an interesting train of thought that I would like to share with you today.

I'm sure many of you have heard the song I'm talking about. If not, then I'll fill you in; the chorus goes:

I wanna be a billionaire so freakin' bad
Buy all of the things I never had
I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen
Oh everytime I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights, yeah...
A different city every night, oh
I swear, the world better prepare
For when I'm a billionaire.
And I thought ... how many millions of people drive to work, each and every single day (all around the world, might I mention - more so in US than anywhere else, but still), and daydream about being rich to this song?

Then, I wondered how many of those millions of people who want to become not even billionaires, but at least millionaires ...

... and how many of those are actually on track to becoming one?

Probably not many.

So as the song ended, it kind of left me with the following question - for myself, for my friends that I was giving a lift to work, and now for you all to ponder on: what are you doing to make your success more than a daydream?

Best Regards,
vip-ip ...

I don't even need a million .... just 100k per year working in my PJs would be cool enough. But of course when I get there I'll probably keep going...

So true. When you find that $100,000 is about $70,000 after taxes (ouch!) and how amazing it is that even a slight increase in standard of living has a ton of "hidden costs", all of the sudden 100k a year doesn't seem almost like anything.

Lucky you. Here in Canada my 100,000$ is just 61,000$.
I can't believe that we pay so much taxes here... that's ridiculous.

This is my sentiment exactly. A cool 6-figures with complete freedom and the ability to work in your boxers is a pretty nice life.

I still like the BareNaked Ladies' "If I Had a Million Dollars!"

But as many of you said, we all know what DOESN'T work for creating millionaires (let alone BILLIONaires). And that's trading time for money - working for someone else.

You NEED to leverage your time, and have your assets work FOR you, instead of you working to pay your liabilities!!

I'm currently participating in one of the biggest transfers of wealth in this decade! Two words: Energy Deregulation.

Teaching people how to pay LESS for electricity, use renewable energy, AND earning commissions on EVERY customer - puts me on the path to wealth - maybe not a BILLION dollars, then again.....maybe!

Check it out: GreenPowerWithPurpose DOT c o m

Be a player, not a spectator!

Here's to your FIRST million $,

I think we will all come to a consensus that a day job = no-no for becoming a billionaire. Virtually no one's made their first billion working for the Big Brother.

    Interesting stuff to ponder about.

the answer lies in the words of Jack Nicholson in "A Few good men" ...

    Ownership is key ..

    1) Owning royalties
    2) Shares
    3) licences
    4) patents
    5) businesses that do not require you working (trading your time for money = wages /
    salary)
    6) property that generate income
    7) gold / silver / platinum

    Step 1)

    Get out of debt (completly)
take the money you would use to pay the debt and invest (once out of debt)
    build
    build
    build
    build

Word to the wise - Read a book called "Rich Dad Poor Dad" very good stuff

You are to become a creator, not a competitor; you are going to get what you want, but in such a way that when you get it every other man will have more than he has now.

Fully agree. I think you are referring to what Wallace D. Wattles mentioned in his book "The Science Of Getting Rich".

That song is pretty cool, but it is completely flawed.

Here talked about living the life style of a billionaire (which sells), not about becoming one.

You do not need to be a billionaire to
    - Be on Forbes Magazine (just do something extremely helpful to the work)
    - Hang with the president (It not money, but what you do that will get you there)
    - If you give all your money away, you will not be a billionaire.
    - Donate to Fema (a lot of people got in there car and showed up to help)

I like the song, but it is completely flawed or made for the dreamers. I predict it will go all the way to the top on Rick Dee's.

    Cheers,
    Mukul

Well everything in that song is "me me me" so if you ever get your billion you still wont be happy just suffering in comfort.

Zig Ziggler said help enough people get what they want and you can have anything you want.

Although the song was, indeed, written to sell (to "be a billionaire" and not to "become" one), I think it's a start that everyone needs. Not the song itself, but the idea of knowing what you want.

The challenging part will be in Travie McCoy's follow-up sequel, "Here Is Exactly How I Will Become A Billionaire," stay tuned.

    I've worked on being a ten-aire first...then a hundred-aire. Now I'm a thousand-aire and loving it.

    Million-aire? Maybe.

I just know that I'm blissfully happy being able to take off and go on vacation whenever I want to, and I can work wherever I want as long as I have a net connection. THAT to me is true success. Not taking that awful commute to and from a soul-sucking job is PRICELESS too.

I isn't the money... it is what it can buy. Lisa already has it. Doesn't need to be a billionaire to have it. It is called 'happiness'. Takes two things to get it. 1- give yourself permission to be it and 2- never let expectations exceed reality. (That DOES NOT mean do not act and continue to increase your reality, it means be happy in whatever circumstance you are in. When you achieve that, you can focus on DOING what it takes to increase the value of your reality instead of 'dreaming'.)

what are you doing to make your success more than a daydream?
      Here's one way...

      1. Create a product or service that has real value for real people.

      2. Support it, nurture it, develop it.

      3. Through this, build a reputation for yourself and your product/service.

      4. With your reputation in place, try to build one or more JVs with massive players in your field. If you're lucky and/or you've done a good job of 1, 2 and 3, they'll come to you first.

      5. Leverage this relationship to build the success you desire.

      Do-able? Absolutely.

      Overnight? No.

Most people "think" they want to be a millionaire, but in reality, very few would actually enjoy it.

Why? Same reason that people who "want to be famous" end up on drugs or in rehab. The same people who "want to get married one day" end up divorced.

It's NOT the end result which brings the long lasting happiness... it's the REASON and METHOD that got you there that does.

A recent study showed that physical labour intensive workers were generally more fullfilled and satisfied in their lives because of their work than office workers.

The reason being, is because a labouring job delivers instant and measurable results that the worker can see and be proud of. A typical paper pushing office job doesn't have the same psychological effect, even if you're doing a meaningful job.

That should tell you something about the power of gratification.

    And on another tangent...

Many people would love to win the lottery. But what would the mean? Sure, they'd get a big house, a few cars, lots of travelling. But inside, they are empty. They don't feel they deserved it. They don't want to tell people how they got rich... they're ashamed of it.

Then their social circles change, and fake friends and enemies come out of the shadows. People expect more from you, and you're expected to live up to other people's expectations and needs.

You can't share your fun with your old friends, because they resent you for it. They want what you've got, not just a peek through your window.

So you have to move to a new location, find new friends... deal with security and accountants and hefty taxes.

Sure, it's great if you left legacy or really changed people's lives in your own unique way... but wanting to get rich just for the sake of it? Not my idea of true pleasure.

The bottom line is, gratification is what drives people and makes people truly happy. The money is a byproduct and material reward/token of success.

But money doesn't make people happy. I'm no millionaire, but the money I've already made online didn't make me happy.

What made me happy was my accomplishments and being free from employment.

So really, it's freedom and control that makes us happy (well, most of us anyway)... and not money itself...

...and you don't need a million bucks to be free these days.

      I enjoyed that. Thank You.

I too taught that money was the reason for my drive
to be successful, when what it really was was to do
whatever the hell I wanted to as a creative human
      being.

It's having the OPTIONS to do what comes to my
      mind that brings me joy.

Money BUYS options. Lot's, and LOTS of options that
      having no money does not.

I've made thousands, and am on the road to make
several hundreds of thousands. But...it's not the
money that gives me the drive any more. It's the
      process, thrill, excitement.

It's just a score card. And at the same time gives
me more options. So...I personally don't have any
desires to be a billionaire, not because I don't want
more money...but because at least at this moment
I don't have a desire strong enough to want to
      achieve billionaire status.

This was a great post. The best I've read by far.

Yes, you can do that. But I ask you... why do you think 90% of people on this forum aren't rich yet? Why do you think most people have project after project pile up, half way complete?

They were told, and they knew, that these projects would bank them all the money they needed.

But lo and behold, they didn't see it through. Even after making money with it, they didn't see it through to the six figure level.

      Why is that?

It's because they don't want the money as much as they "think" they do. They just want enough money to be comfortable.

They don't have a big enough drive to earn that money doing something they dislike or find boring (yes, that applies to outsourcing it all too folks.)

The truth is, most people only need about 1/3rd of the money they "think" they need. Once the LED tv and home cinema system is bought... once the new car in on the driveway, once the three bedroom house is bought...

      ...the desire for millions fades.

You're free. You're comfortable. You're happy. Sure, it would be cool to drink champagne of a lingerie model's belly button on a yatch with a swimming pool off the coast of Saint Tropez, but it's not something we lie awake about thinking of ways to do it.

It's like the woman who fantasizes about the milk-man... it's just a bit of fun. (apologies to any man who's wife screwed the milk-man here, but you're a minority)

Or maybe, lets work on the business seriously and geometrically for a few more years, andd then become one.
    Correct.

Overnight millionaires are ficticious and not even worth contemplating. If you want to be one, you might as well move on to avoid the inevitible disappointment.

But over a period of time, it's absolutely possible and you can get started today.

Here's what I'd do with a billion dollars:

    1. Invest in some nice boxer shorts. If I'm going to be walking around in my underwear all day (which I would - and do now, for that matter), worn out drawers aren't going to cut it.

    2. Buy the cheapest house/apartment in the city. No use in advertising how much dough I've got, that would probably cause more problems than it would solve.

    3. Write the world's first Reverse WSO: "I'll give you $10 straight up if you buy my course."

    4. I'd buy my own Lamborghini and my own tow truck. Every once in a while I'd tow the exotic car around town and shout "Geez, rich people think they can just park everywhere..."

If you think you can then you can do it,

If you think you can't then you can't do it.

You are right in both the situations. It all depends upon your attitude. Be innovative, do first things first. Dare to dream and those will come true.

I am not talking about dreams those you see while you are sleeping but those which can't let you sleep.

No he is not...if he was, it would not be with lyrics. Anyone who has been successful online knows you need to put in time and effort, there is not a no work path. Anyone who has made a billion bucks would know the same I am guessing (I am not a billionaire).

That was HILARIOUS and I bet you people would still not buy your WSO after the shady stuff going around.

The thing about Travie McCoy's song "Billionaire" is that it's got me sold - the image of living it up and enjoying your life is great. But if you think about it a bit deeper, you realize that it's not always the message, but the delivery of the message.

Because there's a billion (pun intended) songs with the same message that I just can't stand.

This person wanted to be a billionaire so bad that he caused the greatest sex scandal of all time in Hong Kong. In short he was a fung shui expert who latched onto an absolutely crazy billionaire widow. He had already leeched more than US$300 million from her for "Fung Shui Services". With that money, he got a private jet, yatchts and a number of luxury cars in sharp contrast to his billionairess benefactor who is reported to live on less than US$500 per month. Not content with that, he wanted all her multi-billion fortune after her death with a handwritten that is very likely to be faked.

He lost the initial case and is appealing it. If he loses again, he is very likely to go to jail and almost nobody will feel sorry for him.

    Greetings Vip-ip,

I do know several billionaires, and most of them spend a lot of time worrying about protecting their money.

The other thing that is apparent to me is that most of those that are trying to achieve it or have achieved that, are not happy.

If you can provide everything your family that they need, and have a little bit left over in the bank, you are a success.

If you really wish to reach for providing for anything your family wants, this means that you can only achieve happiness after you have everything possible including all the bells and whistles, this is quite hard to do.

To me the best life is to live without stress and be able to cover all your bills and have some money left over.

    All the best ... Ron

    Hello,
Same here, I listened to this song for the first time on the radio, It kind of make me think about money funny right?hehe. Maybe it is so popular because of it. To me, to make my success a reality is not to dream but have goal. Goal become reality and not dream. I makes little goal that lead me to achieve my big goal. It is easier and much more realistic. However,I rather have fame than fortune as in becoming someone that people remember as idol for long time than someone greedy with a lot of money.

It is really quite amusing how money polarizes people.

When I hear this song, I hear the positives of having money. I hear giving to the poor, helping others etc.

I realized some time ago that it is hard to make a differnece in the world on wages. If bopping along to billionaire helps me get closer to an "aire" (thanks lisa, loved the ten-aire, hundred-air etc.) then thats a good thing.

Money is nothing but money - it doesnt have an emotion or a thought process - it just is.

      The lyrics:-

I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
      For when I'm a billionaire

Yeah I would have a show like Oprah
I would be the host of, everyday Christmas
      Give Travie a wish list
I'd probably pull an Angelina and Brad Pitt
And adopt a bunch of babies that ain't never had sh-t
Give away a few Mercedes like here lady have this
And last but not least grant somebody their last wish
Its been a couple months since I've single so
You can call me Travie Claus minus the Ho Ho
Get it, hehe, I'd probably visit where Katrina hit
And damn sure do a lot more than FEMA did
Yeah can't forget about me stupid
Everywhere I go Imma have my own theme music

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
      For when I'm a billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I'm a Billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I'm a Billionaire

I'll be playing basketball with the President
      Dunking on his delegates
Then I'll compliment him on his political etiquette
Toss a couple milli in the air just for the heck of it
But keep the fives, twentys (?) completely separate
And yeah I'll be in a whole new tax bracket
We in recession but let me take a crack at it
I'll probably take whatevers left and just split it up
So everybody that I love can have a couple bucks
And not a single tummy around me would know what hungry was
      Eating good sleeping soundly
I know we all have a similar dream
Go in your pocket pull out your wallet
And put it in the air and sing

I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

I wanna be a billionaire so frickin bad!

    Thanks for the song!

I'm an absolute newbie here and I wanted to ask you to give me directions on what I should start with in internet marketing. What is the easiest way to begin? Please, don't suggest blogging, because I've just settled down in Canada and English is not my mother tongue.

I'm grateful to everyone for your help and advice in advance!

Success is a drug to be feared, respected, and handled with
great care. It can heal great wounds, or it can destroy great
men with one, soulless stroke of the pen.

The sooner you embrace just how dangerous money is, the
less likely you are to let it consume your life. Understanding
this will also help you develop the maturity to make, and keep
    that type of money.

There is a reason people have a fear of success. They're wiser
    than they know.

Do something different. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten. So do something different. If you are working and don't have a business yet, try to do different, own a business, start with a small business, then use the money to grow your business.

    I like the song.

...But I don't think he wants to be a billionaire.

Everyone loves the thought but would settle for 100+ million hanging out in their bank account and probably wouldn't grow it much.

I truly believe there could be 10 times as many billionaires as there are... but I'm sure, at some point, if you don't truly love working money just isn't motivating anymore.

I've seen it happen to a lot of people in the industry who make so much money over what they're used to, and what their lifestyle commands, that they just relax and stop working.

...It's all about how much you love money, and how much you love making money.

    Two totally different things.

Travie McCoy soon will become a billionnaire, or a millionnaire at least. Why? because he takes action by produce his album and sell it or get royalties for that.

But are you take action yet? have produce your own product and sell it? Or have you promoted other people product for commissions yet? If you have take actions, then good. If you are not, then start now. Don't dream about billionnaire or millionnaire yet. Start about $30 per day is ok than nothing right? Of course the more the better.

    So let take action.

what are you doing to make your success more than a daydream?

taking action! even when i don't feel like it. even when my other responsibilities are pulling at me hard. even when a very tempting distraction comes along.

growing the business in multiple dimensions! that includes recruiting actual business partners.

letting go of perfectionism! that means releasing things before they are 100% perfect.
