Commission Junction Beginner

I want to apply to Commission Junction so I can sign up with a particular merchant. My site is new so there is no content on it. Do I need content first in order to get approved by CJ? The merchant is fine with it and will approve me but I wasn't sure what CJ criteria is.

Thanks!

is there a Commission Junction Forum I can ask this question on since I'm not getting any response here?

I know it sounds like a stupid question b/c of course you want content on your site but the product I'm selling doesn't really need much content once I get the photos and descriptions up, it's basically one or two pages.

So I want to know if I should put up some posts or articles so CJ can see it is a real site. The merchant knows what I'm doing and is used to how it works so I just want to find out what CJ expects from site in application process.

Does CJ actually look at every single site that applies or is it an automated application process?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend buulding your site up. CJ isn't strict on accepting people, but the companies themselves have to approve you. So when you apply with a company you want to promote, they may not like your skinny website. Try it out and see if they take you, some do it automatically but most want to see what you have as a website before approving you to promote their products.

Thanks. the company I want to work with is fine with the new site and she's watching out for my application so she can approve it. It's the fact I have to go thru CJ to apply and I wasn't sure if they would approve it or not. What happens if they don't, can I try it again with more content? Do I need to wait a certain amount of time?

For what it's worth I'm not a big fan of CJ. The vendors in my experience seem to have a higher drop out rate than clickbank or paydotcom

Put up some content on your page before you apply, just to be safe. I generally promote shareasale instead of commission junction, but I do have a CJ account and it was a breeze to set up. I believe you can even use a blogger account with CJ.

@Rick. Thanks. The company I want to work with uses CJ so I don't have choice. They are one of the biggest and best companies for this niche so I want to apply to CJ at least just to work with them.

    • No you do not need a site to get approved by CJ.

I signuped for Commission Junction in matter of minutes.

I followed directions given in a book called:

Affiliate Millions, by Anthony Borelli, pg 46-55. The signup went smooth.

      Good luck!

When your site has a good amount of posts and visitors then apply to commission junction otherwise it will be more difficult for you to make some money there.

Thanks, I did sign up for CJ fine but haven't applied to any merchants yet. I was writing content for my site first as recommended and was just getting ready to start posting when I found out about the proposed Nexus/Affiliate Tax for my state.
