Extremely EXTREMELY motivated beginner

What's up warrior forum this is my first post. I'm EXTREMELY motivated to make some serious internet money and leave my j.o.b. I'm a newbie to internet marketing and making money online.

Given a 40 hour workweek and 2 college classes that leaves me about 15-20 hours a week to go balls to the wall learn everything I can about making money online and applying the theory. I'm so motivated these past 2 weeks I've been pouring over the internet looking for ways to make some substantial money. I've been getting by on 2-4 hours of sleep every night because I'm up doing research.

I'm very computer/internet savvy. How long will it take an average newb to start making at least $10 grand a month?

Set a goal for one year...that's very realistic and EXTREMELY doable.

You're only limited by your own motivation and effort. Setting a goal and putting your action plan in writing is one the best ways to get started.

The best advice I can give a new internet marketer is to avoid "shiny object syndrome"...

There are millions of ways to make money, but you should initially just focus on ONE!

Also, for every hour of research or time in the Warrior Forum, spend at least 2 hours doing something. Research and reading the forum is great, but it's very easy to find yourself falling victim to "shiny object syndrome" if you spend too much time here.

Learn what you need to learn to move on to the next step in your action plan and then implement it.

Thanks all, for your responses but on average how long would it take a dedicated newbie to start earning $10 grand a month?

Lisa said a year is doable and I agree that it's also realistic. Have others done it more quickly, yes of course. Have others never done anything at all, yes of course. Too many variables...

Start with $10/month, move to $100/month, $1,000/month - rinse and repeat 10 times and you're there.

I second the suggestion to join the war room.

I'd have to say there is no average time. Here's why.

        It depends on:

        1) How fast you learn how to do internet marketing
        2) How focused you are
        3) How much money you have to spend (invest) in some basic products/services to get you going
        4) How creative you are (we all think "outside the box" to be innovative)
        5) How you manage your money
        6) How you manage your time
        7) Knowing when a direction you are going is a "dead end" and change direction immediately
        8) What methods you pick to make your money
        9) How resourceful you are at getting other people to help you, and you help them in return
        10) What kind of personality you have
        11) If you can handle tedius work (at the beginning, anyway)
        12) How well you can communicate with people
        13) How serious you think of this as a business

Consider this your "interview" to get the job!!

If you break it down, you are, in essence, going into the field of self employment. All the above applies if you went in business for yourself offline or online. I've been self employed for 18 years now...and not looking back. It was hard work, and still is, but you have to be dedicated....not just in it for the money

        Hope that helps,

        Bruce

      • I'm only a newbie myself but one really important piece of advice i'd give you is..

Stick with one proven method, and that method only. Forget people saying it doesn't work, if its worked for somebody else, it can work for you. Set a goal for this method, and when you've achieved it, move onto the next.

I'm still going full on with 'bum marketing' despite what others may have to say about it. When I achieve my goal, I will move onto my own website and start building a list. Nothing wrong with having multiple income streams.

I'll let you know when I get there , but I'm still pretty new at this as well, although I've been making steady sales - so I'm happy with what I've been able to accomplish so far. Just stay with it and try to stay with one thing until it succeeds, it's much tougher when you jump from one thing to another or try to do promote too many things at once.

First, I echo a previous recommendation that you join the War Room. That gives you access to all the best info here at the Warrior Forum.

Second, you need to "Pick a Lane" - as in decide on a market and then a niche within that market. To make money, it must be a market/niche with buyers.

Then, decide on how to monetize that market/niche, based on their wants. Will you make money as an Amazon affiliate or with Google Adsense? Or with Clickbank or what?

Then, set up your website, monetize it, and start driving traffic to it.

And, as mentioned above, set goals and learn along the way.

Been exactly where you are. My advice is to set reasonable small goals and grind.

It's going to take some time. You will fail and you will learn a lot from your failures.
Try to forget about the $10k/mo right now and start with $100/mo. You'll get there.

I just started writing about this and my 10 year journey that started while I was working a full-time job in the blog linked in my sig.

Congrats on your awesome attitude! Everyone makes money at a different rate, so there's no magic number that tells you how long it will take to make xx amount of money. But, if you keep up the great attitude and work hard, there's no telling how far you can go!

Just remember - it can take some time to build up momentum online. Don't be frustrated if a few months go by, and you're still not seeing the success you want. Keep at it.

First of all, welcome to the WF. As you would have probably already noticed this place is FULL of knowledge, valuable information and LOTS of different opinions. That is GOOD but it is also BAD. WHY? Easy, so much information can be overwhelming, confusing and even frustrating if you do not know how to deal with it.

1- Set yourself a long term goal as others have already recommended. Then slowly set short term goals, both financial and experienced based goals.
2- BE REALISTIC. It is quite ok to dream and dream big, but all too often newbie dreams can be too idealistic, lacking fundamental aspects that lead to failure.
3- Read, learn, dissect, analyze and compare ALL information. Whether you garner it here or elsewhere, never take everything you read literally. All information you come across is meant to help guide you and NOT to be used as a "step by step guide", although a lot of people do claim to have step by step guides.
4- Remember that everyone has a different attitude and a different approach to doing business online, therefore their outcome and success will be very different than what you will probably experience.
5- Do not fall for the "get rich quick" schemes. They are nothing more than that, a scheme to take your money and be gone. No one gets rich overnight unless the win the lottery or strike a gold mine. You can ask Bill Gates and Donald Trump, I am certain they will agree with me.

Finally, Internet Marketing entails a lot of hard work, focus and PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PERSISTENCE and more PATIENCE.

I have just joined Warrior Forum too (about 10 minutes ago!) I saw this thread and thought "that's me!" - a newbie too.

May I ask some advice from you guys? Very similar question to Marksygirl, hence not a new thread. I want to know what kind of IM I should start with.

I am serious. I have a whole 12 months during which I do not have to earn, and I have a budget of $10,000. I have just given up my other work. I do have children (9 & 13) and lots of home commitments, but 40 hours of work a week is fine. I learn very fast and by the end of this year I want to be in a very very different place!

I don't just want to market for its own sake - I want to become brilliant at marketing through selling products that really inspire me - so that seeing them being bought and used makes me feel I am contributing something to the world. I do need the money though, because I can buy time with that.

This is my project: I want to sell services to parents. (I am actually very well established in this field in UK with very good access to the market, but I want to go on-line and international.) I want to sell things that help parents spend more time at home - help with changing their work, setting up home enterprises, accessing better financial advice, etc. The website will be HomeTimeWorkMoney.com. I will market existing services that I can hand-on-heart say are brilliant, but nothing is perfect and no opinion is objective! So I won't try to be God! (I love this forum - will definitely point people here!)

So, what kind of marketing should I focus on? My ideas:
      - well optimised website, preceded by well optimised blog on the domain covering all the topics and getting presentations from the businesses I want to promote
      - energetic twitter and facebook communication, promoting the blog and building up to the launch of the website

Would email marketing work, the Clickbank stuff?

It would be great to have a nudge in the right direction (or a kick, if you think I am hopelessly in the wrong place!)

Hey welcome to the WF! I'm going to agree with some above statements and say that Bruce's answer is spot-on. Also, 10k a month is going to be tough, but you can very easily get going.

The problem with online business/internet marketing is that there's so much out there right now, and if you start subscribing to a few lists and start getting emails coming in every day, you can get swamped so quickly. Not to mention all the emails will likely be promotions to buy some product or other, and most will have compelling sales copy that makes you WANT to buy whatever it is (usually to the tune of "this is the best thing in the world and will instantly help you make x,xxx in no time!"). And that leads to what most people call 'info overload', since all the offers are going to look like the next best thing.

I'd personally read the thread I wrote up (that actually took a long time to write). I lay out a more-or-less complete blueprint for how you can start to make money online, and you can do it for under $15 in as little as a week.

    Here's the thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...w-5-steps.html

Also, I don't really promote anything through that, nor am I trying to get you to buy anything. That thread was made out of goodwill to the beginners here, and I regularly use that method myself. Plus, it seems to have been fairly well received by the members here.

Check it out, and hope it helps. if you need anything or get stuck with anything, PM me or Skype me

I would suggest to not get hung up on the monthly goal. You're in a learning curve. Focus on action and making money - some money. See success and build on it. The biggest hurdle you're going to have is taking action and not procrastinating.

Sounds like you have some good motivation and a positive attitude which is great!

There's actually quite a few posts here that outline step by step plans on making a good income. Since I am too lazy to search for them all, I will point you towards one I read yesterday and think is quite good:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...d-traffic.html

Since you seem to have a lot on your plate with work and classes, I suggest you outsource everything that you can afford to outsource. This will get you to your goal that much quicker.

Oh... and definitely join the war room!

    Hello
It is great to hear that you are extremely motivated, I hope you can keep that motivation till the end. But I think your goal is way too high right now. I don't think a lot of people here even making that much right now. Sorry to tell you but you needs at least 10 years of experience to even make that much.. You should make a more realistic goal, make a list of thing you could do, and don't be tempted on short cut but there aren't any. Also something that you wants to do and have fun with. That's all I could think of right now.
Good luck and I hope you be successful

Thanks for the advice but 10 years to make that kind of money is a bit of a stretch. I'm thinking a third of that given the right mentors and training anything is possible. On that note I'm joining the war room right now!!

You are a newbie and start learning here on this forum. You will find few successful posts and you will get lot of information from these posts. Actually it depends on you how much you want to earn in one month. Make a plan and start earning. Start with low income and go for higher. It is good thing that you motivated and be motivated until end and do not break this chain.

Attitude is very important for sure, but read the omens about the future of the internet, social media and marketing is growing fast, I'd get on this now, to complement your SEO.

It's very competitive, but I've managed to generate some income from my main Twitter account connected to a blog about Twitter strategies.

A lot of people will moan that Tweeters aren't converters, after all, they came to sites like Facebook and Twitter to socialize, not to buy. But just offer a lot for free, I've found a combination of a blog of information, a Twitter time-line of useful tips, and a free e-book, newsletter and video course on web design to be effective ways to get people added to my Twitter followings, and added to my email auto-responder list.

Social media is probably the worst place to cold-sell, because it's not just annoying spam you find from searchs, it's annoying spam when you're trying to socialise! If you get into this, always remember to lead people through a process of freebies and advice.
When you've convinced them you're not just about marketing, you believe in what you sell and you genuinely want to help them, that's when they might buy something from you.

If you instantly think, about making 10ks a month, without even making $100, then you are setting yourself up for failure. My best advice would be, for you to find a niche that is profitable.

Then start building your list right away, this is what all marketers should do new or not new. Keep building your list and it can make you some real good money on autopilot.

Many neglect list building and other don't and they make easy money from selling or offering to the list which, they have relationships with.
