How to Sell Ezine Advertising?

Hi, I have a site, you can see in my sig with about 2,000 members. I do a "featured profiles" email to members a few times a month and I am thinking of offering ad spots. Any idea how much I could charge for something like that and how I would go about selling it? Are there any organized exchanges like adwords but for selling ezine/mailing list ads?

    1) Not any piece of paper is a newspaper. The same not any "featured profiles" email is an ezine.

    2) The price should depend on where the ad spot is placed (top, middle, bottom of the email) and also on how many ad spots are contained by one single email.

    3) How to sell the spots? Tell about them to your list and post also an announcement on your site. That's the first step. If your "subscribers" don't read and buy, then there is something wrong and you should find it and correct it.

I agree that not any "featured profiles" email is an ezine - I just don't know what to call it otherwise - maybe just a "mailing list"?

Also, I know the problem with the site is that there is no exact niche. I started it as an experiment at the time thinking that a broad-based social networking site would be a good idea because that how you get big - and now I have no idea what to market to the people who have signed up there.

I have moved on to other projects that I am more passionate about (and have a real focused niche) but people just keep signing up for the below site left and right because of all the back links I built. Now I just don't know what to do with it.

        Yes, it's more appropriate.

If you don't make some tests ... you will never know!

By the way, on the signup page you may want to ask the people whether they want or not to sign up for your mailing list (that's different than signing for an account with your website). Otherwise, you may find later that some of your "subscribers" hit the SPAM button when they notice your emails. You won't like it when you'll find yourself on blocklists and when your emails will be blocked or sent to the Spam/Bulk/Junk folders.
