Are you earning $1000 with 1000 subscribers?

Hello all,

People say that 1000 subscribers=$1000 monthly income.
I have a list of 1000 but not earning $1000.

Is the above statement really true? Can you guys share your subscribers vs income details? It helps me understand how all this stuff really works.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi priya01

Who are the People you say have said this?

I've read a few listbuilding reports and I think the "1 subscriber is $1" is more a figure of speech. Hey you could earn $5 or more per subscriber.

Having the numbers will not do you any good UNLESS you are selling something to your subscribers (be it your own or affiliate stuff) AND they are buying from you.

Is this what you're doing? Maybe you're not earning $1000 but are you earning something? If you are, you can always amp it up from there.

If you've just collected names and emails, I would suggest building a relationship with you list by sending them material that will enrich their learning and promote either your own or an affiliate offer that you know will be of value to them.

Maybe you should not listen to me since I don't have a list (yet), all I've said is based on what I've learned from the forum and in reports but we'll wait for some who are making money from their lists

      Hey Shaleniie,

      Thanks for your post.

Problem is that my subscribers are not buying high cost stuff. And with the low cost products I am not earning much.

Any suggestions on how to solve my problem?

If you treat your list good, they are worth way more than that. I once made almost $9,000 in 6 months with a list of 700 people.

If you always share loads of good valuable and helpful content with your list instead of just hitting them with offers all the time they will love to buy things from you, whether it's product recommendations, or products you create.

If you have read the whole thread you should already understand that the size of your list isn't enough, you also need SOME product, either your own or as an affiliate.

You CAN have a small list + a great product and make money!

Yes it is possible. It really depends on how you provide value with your subscribers and how much they trust you. If you have at least 500 subscribers, you can expect a steady income month after month and earn more while your list grows, again, depending on how you are building relationship with your subscribers.

Regarding the number of subscribers, it really doesn't matter how many do you have, but of course it's much better if you have more. Build buyers list, not freebie-seekers. One way to also test the responsiveness of your subscribers is by asking them if they have any concerns, or to tell them to email you if they receive the free report successfully, or any questions that will lead them to answer. A lot will not give you any reply, but if you manage to get a lot of subscribers who are responding, then you are building a very responsive subscribers.

It's about relationships and trust. $1 per subscriber per month is low if you really do it well. And, it helps to have at least one product or service that's a bit higher ticket. Doesn't take a lot of sales of a $200 product to exceed $1/subscriber for that month.

As of right now I have a list of about 13k subscribers but last month I only made $5700 and I know that I am the one to blame.

I haven't maintained a relationship with them. I mean, I didn't hit their inbox with offer after offer but I never contacted them. About 5 months ago (my list was about 10k at the time) I simply didn't email them at all for a month.

Then I finally started to see my mistakes and I started emailing my list regularly and I provided them with awesome valuable content and now I'm starting to see an increase in my income.

So simply put, it's not the quantity of the list that determines the amount of money you will make but it is the quality of the relationship you build with them.

    Hope it helps

      Mohammad,

What do you think about auto-responder sequences. Say you had 1 message per week for 50 weeks set up. Does that "maintain the relationship" or do you need to be fresh with current affairs and send out broadcast message in real time?

I have to admit I have over 700 subscribers and I never email them apart from 2 days when they optin and then a 50% sale for 4 days on the 30th day of being on my list. Email marketing and list building is something I really have to improve on. Would love to build a relationship with my list.

I actually added in a 3rd day recently, where I ask them if they received the report, if they had any questions and to just hit reply. Its weird I very rarely get a reply.

Need to start learning from what Mark Dickenson does, every email I see from him I open and even have a folder for his emails because the stuff he gives out is quality, as well as the products he creates.

      Hey all,

Thanks a ton for your posts. I think I need to sell different products of different prices.

Can you suggest me few products that are doing well with your list?

For those of you earning $1 or more per subscriber how often do you mail your list and what is the ratio of content to pitch?

        Thanks

You'll get a lot of answers to that one, but I like to go with about 3 non-sales emails for every pitch. The key I think is to early on develop a strong relationship by providing really great content without asking for a penny. And open a 2-way communication if you have the time. Invite suggestions, questions, etc. That really helps develop the relationship! People on your list will want to buy what you recommend once they trust you. Just don't abuse the relationship by hitting them constantly with sales pitches. Treat them as valued friends - always!

Its not likely that small, i have recently hit one my list with only 145 subscriber, and bum bum... 15 sales within 3rd days so converting about 10% on that list.

but you have to maintain it hard diving by interest.

It is really possible to make $1k with 1000 subscribers

Well it only takes few sales ...

For example lets say you have a normal relationship with your list, and with every email you send them you get beetwen 25-30% CTR thats 250-300 clicks to your link in the email. From that 300 people if you sell a $97 product - you will need only 10 and a half sales per month to get to that $1000.... It is really possible and I have done it before and I am doing it now.

      I agree with Ivancho.
      Statistically it works that way.

Plus if you have built a good relationship with your list, 1 list = $1 could be 1 list = $1.5 even $2

Treating your list as VIP is quite important in my opinion.

In addition to other points made, the form of monetization will have GREAT deal with how much money you can get out of the list. Some forms of monetization are by definition low converting others higher converting.

Here's a basic hieratchy from highest to the lower ones:

    - one on one in person sale
    - one of one sale on the phone
    - speaking at a live event to an interest group
    - a launch sequence that ends with a webinar (long build-up to a product sale announcement), and follow up emails
    - a webinar promoted with a couple of email blasts and a few follow up emails.
    - an email blast to a video sales page or video and text
    - an email blast to a regular (text) sales page

Obviously, some of the lower level offers on the list perfected by their owners can still deliver a pretty darn high "$$ sale per visitor" you send to them, like in the $4-$5 or better. Every time you find one like this, you'll increase the "$$ squeeze" you get out of your list.

Lastly, once you start incorporating and perfecting advanced elements into your sales funnel like 1-cick upsell sequence and piggy back the continuity to the initial sales (with permissions of course), you'll see your numbers per list member go up substantially.

There's a major diff. in results between selling a $200 product and seling the same $200 product and having every 3rd buyer also add $500 upsell, for instance. If you also managed to enroll every buyer into a $50/mo trial -- you'll see some interesting numbers.

The value of your list is unique to your list, you should not expect a list of 1000 ferrari owners to equal 1000 ford owners. There are so many factors at work, your list is worth what it's worth...

Try testing many things to get the best results from your list. Here's few ideas

Subject lines, Content vs promotions, broadcast times, writing style, direct promotions, internal promotions, cost of services / products, type of services / products.

So much is involved in getting your list right.

My friend and teacher Yanik Silver has taught, for a very long time,
that every time he charges $1 in price, he tries to give $10 in VALUE.

When you deliver $10,000 in value, it's hard NOT to make $1,000 in
profit - regardless of how big or small your list is

The first time I made $1,000 from an email list was when I sent out
    a SINGLE email promoting a product I still love - Josh Shafran's N-POD
    - and from a list of around 600 prospects, got $1,200+ in affiliate
    commissions.

Of course, over years, I've earned more from USING the lessons in
N-POD - the course delivered $10,000+ in value. (It's no longer on
sale, I think. Net Profits On Demand was the title.)

    All success

It really depends on a couple of factors, such as the niche, and more importantly, the king of relation you cultivate with your list, because if you smother your list with freebie after freebie and rarely pitch, then you run the very real risk that they will never buy anything from you because you conditioned them to expect freebies all the time.

On the other hand, if you pitch every single email, you run the risk of burning through your list completely.

Point is, test for yourself what works because there is no definite answer.

I should also mention the fact that a lot of people have a prospect list, and a buyers list. Obviously, if they have been doing things properly, then the return per subscriber will be higher on their buyers list then their prospects list(whom havn't purchased anything through them before and have no real relationship)
