Is this niche too difficult?

Hey guys, I am looking at a niche market at the moment.

I use market samurai and i've attached the heat map that it has given me.

Now there a lot of backlinks to those top sites, but most of the sites are youtube vids and articles.

Would that be possible to get a top 10 position in?

It looks like with a bit of work you could make a play for the number 4 spot. I would like to see a few more "easy" ones in there but give it a shot

Yeah, it would be possible, but it would definitely take a decent amount of time. Start building 1 backlink a day, then after a couple days, increase that amount to 3 backlinks a day, and continue that process until you're building 10 backlinks a day.

Once you get to 10 backlinks a day, continue doing that for the next 3 months, and you'll be where you want to be.

Find Dofollow blogs, dofollow forums and article sites

Do you find that if you add too many links to start with that Google get's a bit funny about the site?

Really looks doable. Remember SEO is like a freight train, starts slow and builds momentum!

It's all possible, after just a few weeks I am position 7 on the first page for a very competitive key word. I honestly thought that I would never get to the first page when i started but it happened. I have now been adding 5 to 10 back links a day and I am confident that I can take the #1 spot in the near future.

BTW, I have noticed that with google the positions update on the weekends, mainly Friday and Saturday. Those seems to be the days they update rankings from data collected through the week. So be patient, it won't happen overnight but it is reasonable you could pull it off in a month!

  • Nope. It's not too difficult.

In fact, it looks very easy... The backlinks to the domain are high but the backlinks to the pages are very low.

PR is overall low, and most of the sites are not fully optimized for their domain, url, and description, header...

If you have a well-optimized site, you will probably be able to start ranking very quickly for this keyword.

It looks pretty easy to me. You should go for it.

No; call me a skepchick but I think this theory's hysterical nonsense propagated by people simply repeating what they've read other people saying, never with any convincing evidence for it at all, but they've somehow come to accept it and believe that it must be true, "because most people are saying it". It doesn't actually stand up to examination at all: not in theory and not in practice either. But now so many people are saying it that it tends to be the story others swallow.

I'll tell you why I believe it can't be true (and I find this same reasoning helpful for some other unevidenced nonsense that people talk about SEO, too): if it were true, it would be trivially easy for anyone seriously to hamper their competitors' new sites, for just a few dollars, and have so-called "Google penalties" imposed on them. Google is a little more sophisticated than to allow that. Just my perspective
I agree (and I love the word skepchick). I mean do you really think that google thinks that 100 links is a lot? Maybe 100000000000000 links would raise a flag but not the small amounts that most people seem to think causes a ban or some kind of "sandboxing".

I never find anything easy in seo ranking, but based on that screen cap it does look doable.
Position 4 and 6 look beatable, so I would give it a shot.

    ***UPDATE ***

Thanks for all the help guys. I have found a product within the niche that has more searches than the niche itself, which seems a bit strange.

The niche had 145 searches a day.
The product within the niche has 217 searches a day.

I've attached the competition report for the product.

Looks perfect for a www.productnamereview.com site, if you can get a domain with the keywords in the name you should rank quite quickly in the top ten. They have very low PR and very low page backlinks - looks like you might have found a winner!

      Thanks.

Would it be best to get the word 'review' in the domain name or just have the product name. productname.org is available

It isn't actually a brand product name, it's like a type of product.

For example (using a different niche):

    It isn't www.panasonicplasmascreen.com

    It's more like PlasmaScreen.com - Coming soon...

If that makes sense. So there isn't an issue with brand names.

(I have an antipathy to registering the .org version of a domain-name of which the .com version already belongs to someone else - even under these circumstances: I believe that in the long-term one is more likely to lead to potential complications than the other).
I agree with this, but I often find in this type of situation that the .com is just a parked page and in that case I say go for the .org!

I would find a few related keywords and check the heat map and search traffic for those too. If you can find at least three that you can rank for and have good search volume then you should be good.

If the one keyword you choose has a ton of traffic you might not case about other keywords though.
